Texans S Troy Nolan was forced to take a pay cut from $1.308 million all the way down to $540,000 in order to keep his roster spot. Nolan did receive a $110,000 "signing" bonus to make up some of the difference, but ultimately the pay cut cost him $658,000. The $540K salary is also not guaranteed, so the Texans could pull the plug on Nolan after training camp if he's outplayed by Torri Williams or Quintin Demps. Nolan held up well in three spot starts last season, but cost too much for a clear-cut backup.
