Johnson has informed the Texans that he'd like to be traded or cut prior to next season, the Houston Chronicle reports. The Texans have given Johnson's camp permission to seek a trade, and the general belief is that if they're unable to find a deal, the Texans would be willing to cut the 12-year veteran. The situation arose after Houston asked Johnson to take a reduced role next season, something the 34-year-old is not comfortable doing. If Johnson, who caught 85 passes for 936 yards and three scores last season, is not traded, cutting him would save the Texans over $8 million against the cap, giving them roughly $22 million in cap space to spend in free agency.
