Mathews (ankle) did not practice Tuesday, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Mathews hasn't played since Dec. 7 against New England, but the team stated Monday that a return for Week 17 is a "possibility." His absence Tuesday is not overly encouraging, though a final call likely won't be made until later in the week.
