The Vikings have claimed Tate on waivers from the Browns, according to ESPN.com.
Tate, who fell behind Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West in Cleveland's rushing mix, adds some depth to the Minnesota backfield, with Adrian Peterson suspended, Matt Asiata having missed practice Wednesday with a concussion, and Jerick McKinnon dealing with a lower back issue. While Tate may need some time to get up to speed with the Vikings' offense, it's plausible that he could carve out some fantasy utility down the stretch in a Minnesota uniform, which makes him worth a speculative pickup if he was cut loose in your league.
He's got a chance to be useful with the Vikes. Asiata has shown that you can be useful as a goal line back in this offence, and Tate is a significantly better prospect (well he seemed like one until Mack went down) than Asiata.
Ben Tate still has the injury prone cloud to steer clear of (see last seasons injuries) in a run heavy offense with the Texans where he was the change of pace RB for the Texans and was supposed to be doing a even up time split in Houston in 2013. Starting to remind me of Kenny Britt in that he has very good potential but just never steps out of his own shadow and becomes the star player he could have been.

From a fantasy perspective, he just went from one mess to another. Nothing like the dreaded three-headed monster.
