Jimmy Butler will not participate in Team USA's training camp this week due to a slightly strained groin.

The injury doesn't sound serious but Butler is taking a conservative approach, which should please the Bulls even as it weakens Team USA. Earning a spot on the team would have given Butler an opportunity to learn from the league's best while gaining international exposure, so it's an unfortunate turn of events for the Bulls' 24-year-old shooting guard.

Jimmy Butler has been named to the 2014 USA Basketball Select Team.

Butler's breakout 2013-14 season during which he averaged 13.1 points, 1.0 three-pointers, 4.9 boards, 2.6 assists, and 1.9 steals went a long way towards landing the 24-year-old on the squad. "USA Basketball's Select Teams are critical for getting some of the game's brightest and most promising young players experience at the USA National Team level, and getting them into our pipeline," said Jerry Colangelo, USA Basketball National Team managing director. If Butler is able to utilize this opportunity to take his game to another level, he could end up being a steal in the middle-to-late rounds of fantasy drafts.

Jimmy Butler made the 2013-14 All-Defensive Second Team.

Butler was third amongst forwards in steals with 1.9 per game, and Chicago had the second best defense against shooting guards, holding their opponents on the wing to a .408 field goal percentage.

Jimmy Butler played just 41 minutes during Game 3's 100-97 win over the Wizards, scoring 15 points with five boards, two assists, one steal and two 3-pointers.

He went to the bench with just under three minutes left in the first quarter, which ended an absurd stretch of 87:58 of being on the floor since dating back to Game 1 on Sunday. Butler got into it with Nene tonight and might receive a fine, but he's probably not going to be suspended. He's a minutes monster and will be a fantasy stud again next season, especially if he can get his field goal shooting in line.

Jimmy Butler admitted to feeling fatigued heading into Friday's Game 3 against the Wizards.

Tom Thibodeau is a fantastic coach, but he gets fair criticism for overextending his players. Butler tied for the league lead in minutes during the regular season at 38.7 and has already played 97 minutes through the first two games of this series. When asked if he's feeling tired after Friday's shootaround, Butler said, "I do. I'm not going to lie about that. But that's only a mental state. Once you hit a certain point it's just like you can't get more tired than this."

Jimmy Butler played 53 minutes in Tuesday's overtime loss, but hit just 2-of-9 shots for six points, seven rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Butler tied for ninth in the league in minutes this season with 44.0 per game and it's been more of the same in the playoffs. And it's showing in his play, as he should simply be doing more with his minutes. He has to be wearing down and the Bulls are now down 2-0 to the Wizards, and head to Washington for Games 3 & 4.

Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau suggested that he won't rest any of his starters in Chicago's final three games.

"I don't want to change how we do anything," he said. "Just worry about our improvement, get ready for Detroit and everything will take care of itself." The Bulls are riding a seven-game win streak to take a one-game lead over Toronto for the East's third seed, so it's unsurprising that Thibodeau doesn't want to mess with his rotations.

Jimmy Butler scored 17 points on 6-of-16 shooting during Wednesday's 105-92 win over the Hawks, adding two boards, two assists, three steals and three 3-pointers in 41 minutes.

After he shot a solid 45.0 percent from the field in February, Butler dropped back down to just 40.5 percent in March. His shot totals are on the rise and he's also getting more designed isolation plays in the offense, so just needs a little efficiency to become a stat-stuffing stud. Butler will be an early target in fantasy leagues next season.

Jimmy Butler had 17 points, eight rebounds, six assists, a steal and a 3-pointer on 4-of-8 shooting Saturday.

He hit 8-of-10 free throws and has been very consistent over his last four games, scoring between 13 and 17 points in each of them, while racking up rebounds, assists, steals and 3-pointers. The Bulls play three games in the upcoming week, so owners will have to weigh options carefully when setting lineups, but Butler looks like a pretty safe bet right now.

Jimmy Butler was unaffected against a tough matchup during Friday's 91-79 loss to the Pacers, scoring 17 points with two boards, one assist, five steals and four 3-pointers in 45 minutes.

He has nine steals and six triples in his last three games and is probably carrying a lot of fantasy owners this week. Butler's 1-of-11 from Saturday seems like a distant memory and he's looking at the best matchup possible against the Sixers on Saturday.
