Butler (illness) will not play Tuesday against the Warriors, the Chicago Tribune's K.C. Johnson reports.

Kirk Hinrich is probably the most likely candidate to step into the Bulls' starting lineup, but Aaron Brooks and Nikola Mirotic also figure to see extended run, as Butler typically plays close to 40 minutes per night, so there are big shoes to fill. Consider Butler questionable for Thursday's game against the Lakers.

Butler (illness) missed shootaround and is questionable to play Tuesday against the Warriors, KC Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Butler came down with an illness Monday night and is in jeopardy of sitting out Tuesday's contest against the best team in the league. At this point, Butler is essentially a game-time call, and a final decision likely won't come until pregame warmups. If Butler is unable to go, Tony Snell or Nikola Mirotic could enter the starting lineup, depending upon how coach Tom Thibodeau chooses to shuffle the rotation.

Butler scored 15 points (6-11 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT) to go along with five rebounds, three assists and one steal in 38 minutes Saturday against the Hawks.

Butler is in the midst of a breakout season, but has slumped a bit of late. He is averaging 20.6 points for the season overall, but only 14.6 points over his last seven games. One of the main reasons for his recent decreased scoring is that he has not attempted more than seven free-throws in any of those seven games. He had 13 games this season before that where he attempted at least 10 free-throws. With Derrick Rose mostly healthy now and Pau Gasol continuing to play extremely well, it might be hard for Butler to average around 20 points a game for the remainder of the season. He still provides excellent overall numbers though.

It is not clear how long he will be out, but bereavement issues are typically day-to-day ordeals. The Bulls will play again Monday at home against the Rockets, so Butler should be considered questionable for that contest. Playing his third game in four nights, Butler was one of the main culprits on a night where the Bulls shot 38 percent as a team. Fantasy owners, however, should be quick to forgive him, given his incredible performance over the first two months of the season. Eligible in most leagues at the scarce small forward position, Butler has been an elite fantasy option, and Tuesday's underwhelming performance should be considered an outlier.
