Rondo (toe) has been ruled out for Saturday's contest due to a toe sprain on his right foot.

Rondo totaled 12 points (5-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 0-2 FT), nine assists and two rebounds across 26 minutes during Thursday's loss to the Pistons, but he sprained his right big toe in the fourth quarter. An MRI on Friday confirmed the injury, and the veteran will be sidelined for at least two weeks. Darius Garland (back) will also sidelined Saturday, so Brandon Goodwin and Cedi Osman are likely candidates to see increased roles.

Rondo uncharacteristically struggled to take care of the ball, setting a new season high for turnovers. He still managed to rack up nine assists and provides strong production to category shareholders. Additionally, Rondo connected on multiple threes and is shooting 37.0 percent from deep since being acquired by Cleveland -- well above his career 32.3 clip from beyond the arc.

Garland is out with back soreness, and Rondo will step into the starting lineup for the first time this season. The veteran point guard averaged 6.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.1 steals in 21.3 minutes over his final 10 appearances before the All-Star break. Caris LeVert (foot) is also out for the next week or too, which likely further increases Rondo's role for the immediate future.

Rondo had 17 points (6-7 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds, six assists and three steals over 33 minutes during Friday's 120-113 victory over the Pacers.

Rondo came off the bench once again during Friday's victory, but he played a season-high 33 minutes since the Cavaliers were missing several contributors. As a result of his increased playing time, the 35-year-old scored in double figures for the second time in the last three games while shooting 85.7 percent from the floor Friday. Across his last three outings, he's averaged 12.3 points, 7.3 assists and 5.0 rebounds in 29.0 minutes per game.

Rondo contributed 15 points (5-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-5 FT), five rebounds, 12 assists and one steal in 32 minutes during Sunday's 98-85 win over the Pacers.

EDGE Analysis

Despite coming off the bench to maintain continuity in the lineups, Rondo filled the shoes with Darius Garland (back) on Sunday. Rondo recorded his first double-double of the season en route to a team-high plus-26 in the box score. The veteran anchors the second unit and has graded as a good defender this season, but carries little rest-of-season fantasy relevance.

Rondo provided two points (1-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt), two rebounds and two assists across 17 minutes during Friday's 102-101 win over the Hornets.

EDGE Analysis

Even with Darius Garland (back) sidelined, Rondo continues to garner a small role off the bench. Over his last six games, the veteran point guard has averaged 4.2 points, 3.7 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 17.8 minutes. It's unclear when Garland may return to action, but Brandon Goodwin has certainly played well enough to compete with Rondo for the backup job when the Cavaliers backcourt is back to full strength.

Rondo (hamstring) played 18 minutes off the bench in Monday's 95-93 win over the Knicks, finishing with eight points (3-4 FG, 2-3 3Pt), four rebounds, three assists and one steal.

EDGE Analysis

In his return from a six-game absence, Rondo was immediately reinstalled as the top backup to point guard Darius Garland, with Brandon Goodwin losing out of a rotation spot as a result. Though he turned in an underwhelming 3:2 assist-to-turnover ratio, Rondo's outside shooting allowed him to deliver a solid line in his return. Expect him to continue to hover in the 15-to-20-minute range in most games now that he's healthy again.

Rondo (hamstring) has been cleared to play Monday against the Knicks, Joe Gabriele of Cavs.com reports.

After successfully going through a pregame workout, the veteran point guard has been cleared to make his return to the floor after missing the previous six contests with a hamstring issue. He's only appeared in three games for the Cavs since joining the team, but he played a fairly significant role off the bench in all three. Given the layoff, however, it's possible he'll have his minutes monitored.
