Nelson averaged 4.9 points, 3.6 assists and 2.1 rebounds over 50 games played with the Pelicans and Pistons during the 2017-18 season.
EDGE Analysis
At 35 years old, Nelson's 14th NBA season indicated that the end is coming soon for his career, as his minutes, points, assists, rebounds and just about every other statistical category declined drastically from years prior. The former Saint Joseph's standout will be a free agent this summer and it won't be surprising if he considers retirement.

Nelson registered 12 points (5-12 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five assists, one rebound and one steal across 20 minutes in Monday's 118-103 loss to the Pelicans.
EDGE Analysis
Nelson certainly wasn't shy in his second game with his new team, hoisting up 12 shots in just 20 minutes off the bench. With Reggie Jackson (ankle) out for another few weeks and Ish Smith struggling to lead an offense for the Pistons, Nelson is positioning himself for more minutes due to a solid first two games with the team. He has 10 assists in two games for the Pistons, and Monday night he showed what he could bring to the table from a scoring standpoint, albeit it wasn't the best performance from three-point range.

Nelson totaled six points (3-7 FG, 0-2 3Pt), five assists and two rebounds across 19 minutes in Sunday's 118-115 loss to the Hawks.
EDGE Analysis
In Nelson's first game playing with the team, he posted pedestrian numbers, but totals that were solid contributions off the bench for the minutes he was given. Nelson won't hold much stock on the Pistons with a crowded backcourt, but Sunday showed he's still capable of dishing the ball to the team's playmakers, which is enough to continue earning minutes off the bench.

Nelson will make his Pistons' debut Friday against the Clippers, Rod Beard of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nelson is expected to compete with the likes of Langston Galloway and Dwight Buycks for minutes off the bench behind starter Ish Smith, as Reggie Jackson (ankle) remains sidelined for the time being. With that many options at point guard, Nelson isn't likely to have a major fantasy output in his new home.

Nelson (coach's decision) is questionable for Friday's matchup with the Clippers, Ron Beard of The Detroit Pistons reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nelson will have to pass a physical exam before he can take the court. If he is cleared to play, expect the veteran to come off the bench behind starter Ish Smith. With Reggie Jackson (ankle) out for the immediate future, Nelson could see a decent amount of action in Detroit, but he will have to battle with Langston Galloway and Dwight Buycks for minutes.

Nelson will be traded from the Bulls to the Pistons in exchange for Willie Reed, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nelson was originally traded from the Pelicans to the Bulls early last week, but is now on the move once again and is set to join the Pistons. Detroit is currently without starter Reggie Jackson (ankle) and a timetable has yet to be established for his return, so Nelson should provide some added depth at point guard in the meantime. Look for Nelson to slot in behind Ish Smith, likely battling with Langston Galloway and Dwight Buycks for the leftover reserve minutes in the backcourt. Despite the change in scenery, Nelson still shouldn't be an overly attractive fantasy option considering his likely role.

Nelson will not be available Saturday against the Clippers, KC Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nelson came over as part of the Nikola Mirotic trade, and while the Bulls apparently intend to keep him around, he won't be available Saturday afternoon, as he's yet to complete a physical. Expect Nelson to perhaps make his Bulls debut Monday in Sacramento.

Updating a previous report, Nelson is expected to remain with the Bulls once the trade with the Pelicans is finalized, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was originally expected that the Bulls would cut Nelson following his acquisition, but it's now believed they'll keep him on the roster, at least for the time being. That's likely to provide some insurance at point guard while Kris Dunn continues to work back from a concussion, though once Dunn is back, there's obviously a chance Nelson is then let go. Look for Nelson to slot in behind Jerian Grant at point guard and while his exact workload is unclear at this point, it should become more apparent once he's cleared to make his team debut.

Nelson, along with Omer Asik, Tony Allen and a first-round pick, was traded to the Bulls on Thursday in exchange for Nikola Mirotic and will likely be waived, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nelson was essentially a throw in as part of the Mirotic deal so the Pelicans would have open roster spots for free agent signings. So, while not official yet, Nelson will likely be on the open market shortly and be free to sign with whichever team he likes. With productive stints in both Denver and New Orleans, Nelson has proven he can still be a quality backup point guard in the NBA.

Nelson contributed 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt), eight assists, and two rebounds in 19 minutes during Tuesday's 114-103 loss to the Kings.
EDGE Analysis
Nelson fell one assist shy of matching his season high while scoring in double figures for the first time since Nov. 17. He scored in double digits during four of his first 13 games with the Pelicans, but saw his minutes dip once Rajon Rondo returned to the lineup. On Tuesday Nelson saw one more minute than Rondo, who still starts at point guard but hasn't really been playing starters minutes most nights lately. After averaging 26.8, 25.2, and 20.2 minutes per game in October, November, and December, Nelson hasn't seen 20 minutes a single time thus far in January.
