Westbrook has agreed to a contract extension in principle Wednesday and will sign Thursday, Ramona Shelburne of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Westbrook and the Thunder were in serious talks about a contract extension Wednesday night, and it looks as if the two sides have reached an agreement. Some sources, such as SLAM Magazine, reported that the contract renegotiation could be worth $85 million over three years, which would keep the star point guard in Oklahoma City through 2019. After Kevin Durant's departure to rival Golden State this offseason, Westbrook had a decision to make, as he would have become a free agent after the 2016-17 season. But it appears as though he has made his choice and is committing to Oklahoma City for the long haul, earning a nice paycheck in the process.
