Varejao collected 12 points (4-7 FG, 4-6 FT), five assists, six rebounds, and a steal over 21 minutes in Sunday's 87-81 loss to the Raptors.
EDGE Analysis
Varejao appears fully healthy and ready to assume a healthy allotment of minutes in the regular season, even displaying a bit offensive punch this preseason. However, after the 33-year-old suffered a December Achilles' tear, the team traded for Timofey Mozgov, who performed well in the starting center role. Consequently, it appears that Varejao will open the season behind Mozgov as his primary backup. The veteran certainly provides quality depth at the position, and could conceivably pitch in at power forward behind Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson when necessary.
