Splitter has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 hamstring strain and will be out at least four weeks, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
The hamstring issue had been hampering Splitter for about a week, but it's now been discovered that the strain is very serious, holding the backup center out for at least the first six games of the regular season. With the newly signed Dwight Howard already having a stronghold on the starting center position, look for the 7-foot-3 Walter Tavares to see an extended role as a backup with Kris Humphries and Mike Muscala also potentially seeing more time in the frontcourt.
