As expected, coach Rick Carlisle restricted Nowitzki's minutes in his preseason debut. The veteran had been held out of the first three games for rest purposes, but he should be ready to take on a full workload when the regular season arrives. After turning 38 years old this summer, it wouldn't be surprising if Nowitzki's minutes were scaled back a little from the 31.5 he received last season, but he should still serve as the Mavs' top scorer while delivering an elite free-throw percentage and respectable marks from the field and three-point range.
