McGee (leg) went through contact work Wednesday and could play in Friday's preseason finale.
EDGE Analysis
McGee has been slowed throughout camp as he works back from a left tibial stress fracture, which has limited his availability to date. He's been ruled out for Wednesday's matchup with the Suns, but coach Rick Carlisle indicated that McGee could be on the court against Chicago later in the week. "It's a very positive sign that things are getting better," Carlisle said. "You know, our hope is to get some of these guys into some live action very soon, and possibly tomorrow but I don't know that for sure. We're behind the curve, in terms of where we want to be with everything, but Mother Nature has things where they are. We've just got to do things the right way and at the right pace." McGee's availability for the start of the regular season is still somewhat in question, and it remains to be seen where he fits in a Mavericks center rotation that also features Zaza Pachulia and Samuel Dalembert. McGee has arguably the highest upside of the three, but he's played in just 28 games over the last two seasons.
