Layman was drafted in the second round of the 2016 NBA draft and went on sign a three-year contract with the Trail Blazers. Considering the first year of that deal is fully guaranteed, he's expected to make the final roster, although it appears he'll have to wait to make his training camp debut due to an undisclosed injury. His status will be monitored throughout the week, but even when healthy, Layman will likely struggle to get minutes while buried on the team's frontcourt depth chart. There's a good chance he spends a chunk of his rookie season developing in the NBA D-League.
