Hornets coach Steve Clifford said Walker is penciled in to start at point guard heading into training camp, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
The announcement comes as no surprise, as Walker finished the past season as the Hornets' leading scorer and go-to man in the clutch. While Walker shouldn't face much competition for minutes at point guard with Jeremy Lin and Brian Roberts this season, he'll need to show increased efficiency in order to emerge as a top-tier fantasy performer. Walker shot just 38.5 percent from the field and 30.4 percent from three-point territory in 2014-15, while providing 5.1 assists per game -- a rather meager total for a starting point guard playing 35 minutes a night. His assist total could climb now that he's playing alongside what looks to be an improved roster, but he'll still need to raise his own shooting percentages to take the leap forward that many have been waiting on.
