Bryant scored 13 points (4-20 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT) and added four rebounds, three assists, and one steal over 33 minutes in Sunday's loss to the Pacers.
EDGE Analysis
Prior to Sunday's game, Bryant announced that he would retire at season's end, creating an increased buzz at Staples Center before an otherwise forgettable matchup between the 2-14 Lakers and 11-5 Pacers. While Bryant was able to keep the Lakers competitive by hitting a clutch three-pointer with 11 seconds remaining to cut the Lakers' deficit to one point, he airballed what would have been a game-tying trey on L.A.'s next possession, which has been a sight all too familiar this season for the 17-time All-Star. The fact that the 4-for-20 performance wasn't even his worst mark from the field this season speaks volumes about how far Bryant's game has fallen, and it comes as little surprise that he'll bow out after the season to avoid further humiliation. He's now averaging 15.5 points on a career-worst 30.5 field-goal percentage through 13 games.
