Freedom will draw the nod at center, as the Celtics are now without Robert Williams (personal), Al Horford (COVID-19), Grant Williams (COVID-19) and Jabari Parker (COVID-19) in the frontcourt. This marks Freedom's first start of the 2021 campaign.

Freedom recorded nine points (4-6 FG, 1-2 FT), 15 rebounds and two blocks over 22 minutes during Saturday's 145-117 victory over the Trail Blazers.

The blowout nature of the win and the absence of Al Horford (back) afforded Freedom more than his usual playing time, and he took advantage of the opportunity by grabbing a season-best 15 boards. The veteran center has registered a massive 17.4 rebounds per 36 minutes on the campaign, but his fantasy value is nearly non-existent since he is averaging only 12.7 minutes per game. That could change, however, if Horford needs to miss more time.

Kanter ended Friday's 96-88 loss to San Antonio with three points (1-5 FG, 1-2 FT) and eight rebounds across 18 minutes.

EDGE Analysis

Kanter was able to log a few additional minutes as the Celtics attempted to match up with Jakob Poeltl on the other end. Despite the playing time boost, Kanter still managed mediocre production, highlighting just where he sits in terms of fantasy value. Long story short, he can safely be left on waivers in all competitive formats.

Kanter received a DNP - Coach's Decision in Sunday's 107-97 road win over the Rockets.

Kanter has appeared in only one of Boston's first three games. That appearance was a brief five-minute stint during Friday's blowout loss to the Raptors. New coach Ime Udoka has essentially stuck with a nine-man rotation that has not yet included Kanter. The big veteran is squarely behind Robert Williams and Al Horford on the Boston depth chart. On Monday, the Celtics play the second of a back-to-back in Charlotte, which might force Udoka to play more of his reserves, but it's unlikely that Kanter will see enough minutes to gain fantasy relevance.

Kanter recorded two points (1-7 FG) and 10 rebounds during a 113-111 preseason win Saturday versus Toronto.

EDGE Analysis

Kanter logged a double-digit rebound tally despite playing just 15 minutes off the Celtics' bench. However, they started Al Horford and Robert Williams together during that game. Kanter will be their No. 2 center if the Celtics opt for a more conventional starting lineup.

Before the 2020-21 campaign, Kanter was shipped from Boston to Portland. The 2011 No. 3 overall pick appeared in 72 games for the Blazers and averaged 11.2 points and 11.0 rebounds in 24.4 minutes per game. He is now back in Boston, where he averaged 8.1 points and 7.4 rebounds across 16.9 minutes per game during the 2019-20 season. Kanter will compete with recently acquired Al Horford for backup minutes behind Robert Williams. Chances are, he'll have a smaller role than the one he held in Portland last season, as Kanter's minutes were boosted by injury to Jusuf Nurkic.

Kanter tallied 14 points (5-5 FG, 4-5 FT), 15 rebounds and one block in 22 minutes during Sunday's 132-116 win over the Nuggets.

The 28-year-old recorded his 35th double-double of the season Sunday. Kanter ends the season strong after averaging just 5.3 points and 7.8 rebounds over his last four games. He played in all 72 games this season, averaging 11.2 points and 11.0 rebounds while shooting a career-high 60.4 percent from the field in that span. The 10-year veteran will look to help lead the Blazers' second unit heading into the NBA playoffs.

Kanter totaled five points (2-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt) and four rebounds in 16 minutes during Wednesday's 105-98 win over the Jazz.

EDGE Analysis

Overall, the big man had a lackluster offensive performance Wednesday, but he salvaged the night by hitting his first three-pointer of the season. Kanter has seen a reduced role since Jusuf Nurkic was elevated back into the starting lineup, but the 28-year-old out of Kentucky has still produced when the matchup suited him. However, a date with Rudy Gobert was not an advantageous matchup for Kanter, so the underwhelming numbers come as no surprise.

Kanter scored 10 points (4-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and grabbed 10 rebounds across 17 minutes in a 106-101 victory over the Lakers on Friday.

EDGE Analysis

The big man made the most of his limited time on the court, registering his second straight double-double despite logging only 17 minutes. Kanter has continued to contribute even after losing his starting job to the returning Jusuf Nurkic in late March, serving as a consistent double-double threat off the bench. On the season, Kanter is averaging 11.5 points and 11.2 boards while shooting a career-best 60.7 percent from the field.

Kanter had 18 points (9-11 FG) and 13 rebounds in Wednesday's blowout win over the Cavs.

EDGE Analysis

With the game getting well out of hand midway through the third quarter, Kanter was able to see a slightly extended role, as he topped 20 minutes (21) for the first time since April 20. One of the best volume rebounders in the league, Kanter took advantage of the opportunity to post his second double-double in the last 12 games.
