Howard will not play in Thursday's preseason opener against the Grizzlies because of minor knee soreness, the Houston Chronicle reports. Howard apparently bumped a knee during practice, so he'll simply sit out Thursday's exhibition game for rest purposes. With the ailment considered a minor one, it's likely Howard will be able to return for Monday's preseason contest versus the Suns.
