Jason Smith (knee) is set to have surgery to remove some loose cartilage in his right knee on Wednesday. "A piece of cartilage kind of chipped off." Smith said. "They said if I tried to [play] through it, it could lock the knee up or tear some other stuff up." Smith is currently out indefinitely and the injuries keep mounting for a depleted Pelicans squad. Smith was averaging 26 minutes per game, and that time will now be dispersed to guys like Al-Farouq Aminu, Alexis Ajinca, Jeff Withey and Greg Stiemsma. Aminu is probably the most attractive pickup out of that group.
