Smith was benched for the final 16 minutes Wednesday's loss to the Suns, the Mlive.com reports. He finished the game with five points, four rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes. Smith had a "spirited verbal exchange" with Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy when leaving the floor in the third quarter, and the veteran forward didn't find his way off the bench the rest of the night. Van Gundy stressed that he was just using the players that gave him the best chance to win in the fourth quarter, and Smith agreed that he was struggling to find his "offensive flow" on the night. While it doesn't appear that this outing from Smith spells long-term doom, owners will want to keep a close eye on the situation over the next couple of games to make sure he's not at odds with his coach.
