Darren Oliver has indicated that he would like to make one final start in Sunday's season finale against the Rays.
The 42-year-old southpaw has started just one game since the 2004 season, but broke into the league as a starter and has 229 of them under his belt for his career. The Blue Jays announced Wednesday that Darren Oliver will be back with the club for the 2013 season.
The Blue Jays picked up Oliver's $3 million club option for 2013 in October, but the veteran left-hander indicated last month that he wanted a raise or a trade to the Rangers in order to come back for his 20th season in the big leagues. It appears that Oliver backed down, as he will return without a raise. The 42-year-old posted a 2.06 ERA and 52/15 K/BB ratio over 56 2/3 innings last season and should be a valuable late-inning arm for a team which is expected to contend in 2013.
