Kouzmanoff (back) has elected free agency, Anthony Andro of FOX Sports Southwest reports. While rehabbing from surgery to repair a herniated disc, Kouzmanoff suffered a setback and was forced to undergo another procedure, which officially ended his season. The 33-year-old has played in just 13 games in the major leagues since 2011 (all this season) and is highly unlikely to receive any major league offers this winter.

Kouzmanoff was outrighted to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday. He missed the second half of the 2014 season after undergoing back surgery, and if he makes a full recovery, he could offer organizational depth at the corner infield spots.

Rangers transferred 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list. It's just a paper move, as Kouzmanoff has already missed 60 days following surgery to repair a herniated disk in his back. He's hoping to return late this season.

Kevin Kouzmanoff will be sidelined 8-12 weeks after undergoing surgery Tuesday to repair a herniated disk in his back. Kouzmanoff has decided to have the operation after getting a second opinion. It's a shame for the 32-year-old, as he hadn't been in the majors in two years but was batting a robust .362/.412/.617 with two homers and 10 RBI over 13 games for the Rangers.

Kevin Kouzmanoff is likely to undergo surgery to repair a herniated disk in his back. Kouzmanoff will get a second opinion Friday but acknowledged that surgery probably can't be avoided at this point, as he's starting to feel some tingling in his legs. "It's been a rough couple of days," said Kouzmanoff. "Surgery is the last thing you want to try, but now it looks like the time has come." Kouzmanoff has already missed a week and would miss an additional 7-12 weeks if he has the procedure.

Rangers placed 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 23 with a herniated disc in his back. Kouzmanoff is currently being treated by Dr. Drew Dossett and it's possible he might require surgery. It's rotten luck for the 32-year-old, as he hadn't been in the majors in two years but was batting a robust .362/.412/.617 with two homers and 10 RBI over 13 games for the Rangers. There's no timetable for his return.

Kevin Kouzmanoff will fly ball to Dallas to have his back examined by specialist Dr. Drew Dosset. Kouzmanoff left Tuesday's game with back tightness and hasn't improved as much as hoped, so the Rangers want to get him checked out. The 32-year-old has a history of back issues. Fortunately for the Rangers, Adrian Beltre (quad) is expected to come off the DL on Friday.

Kevin Kouzmanoff left Tuesday's game against the Athletics with back tightness. The Rangers don't think it's serious, but it's certainly worth noting that Kouzmanoff has battled back issues often during his career. Texas has an off day Thursday and Adrian Beltre (quad) is due back Friday, so the timing of Kouzmanoff's injury could be worse.

Kevin Kouzmanoff went 3-for-4 with a home run and three runs batted in as the Rangers beat the Mariners on Tuesday. Kouzmanoff, filling in for the injured Adrian Beltre, belted a solo shot off of Blake Beavan in the second inning, going back-to-back with Prince Fielder. Kouzmanoff knocked in two additional runs with a double in the eighth inning, providing some insurance. No one is expecting him to hit as well as Beltre, but he's doing a good job of it anyway in the early going, now batting .450 over 23 plate appearances.

Kevin Kouzmanoff went 2-for-3 with a double in Sunday's win over the Astros. Kouzmanoff had a strong spring and has carried that over since he was called up on Wednesday. Kouzmanoff has a hit in each of his four games, batting .417 (5-for-12) with an RBI and a run scored. With Adrian Beltre officially placed on the disabled list, Kouzmanoff should get most of the starts at the hot corner over the next few weeks.
