Tigers placed OF Austin Jackson on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.

Jackson is expected to need the full 15 days. Avisail Garcia was called up from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding roster move and will get regular playing time in the Detroit outfield over the next two-plus weeks. Jackson was batting .272/.333/.371 with two homers, 11 RBI, five stolen bases and 33 runs scored in 34 games.

Austin Jackson is leading all of baseball with 28 runs scored this season.

It's not a surprise given that Jackson has yet to receive a day off and is getting on base at a nice .356 clip. The outfielder is hitting .293/.356/.407 with two homers and 10 RBI for the year, and he's swiped five bases. The steals in particular are nice after A-Jax fell off to 12 pilfers last season.

Austin Jackson struck out all three times up Monday against Marlins lefty Wade LeBlanc.

LeBlanc is hardly a big strikeout guy in the first place, and he doesn't even have the platoon advantage in this case. Jackson had cut down on the strikeouts early in the spring, but he's now fanned in five straight games, racking up a total of eight in 17 at-bats. His average is down to .241.

Austin Jackson tripled, doubled, walked and scored three times Friday in the Tigers' 4-2 victory over the Blue Jays.

Jackson also swiped his second base of the spring. He's hitting a modest .229, but it comes with just four strikeouts in 36 at-bats. Last year, he struck out 20 times in 70 spring at-bats.
