Clay Hensley announced his retirement from professional baseball on Sunday. The 34-year-old right-hander was cut from the Nationals during spring training and had been pitching for the Sugar Land Skeeters in the Independent Atlantic League. Hensley posted a 4.00 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 371/239 K/BB ratio over 517 innings with the Padres, Marlins and Giants in his big league career.

Reds signed RHP Clay Hensley to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Hensley, 33, had a 4.62 ERA and 42/30 K/BB ratio over 50 2/3 innings last season with the Giants. He'll need a big spring in order to win a spot in the Reds' bullpen.

Giants activated RHP Clay Hensley from the 15-day disabled list. Hensley will be available out of the San Francisco 'pen on Tuesday night after missing the past couple weeks with a groin strain. He has a 4.37 ERA in 45 1/3 innings.

Clay Hensley (groin) is expected to return from the 15-day disabled list when first eligible. Hensley threw to live hitters on Wednesday without incident. The right-handed reliever was placed on the disabled list August 29 and is eligible to return next Tuesday. He would seem to be on the right track.
