Baker has been scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday due to a mild back strain, Jacob Unruh of The Oklahoman reports. There's no indication at this point that Baker will land on the disabled list, but it will be a situation worth monitoring ahead of his next turn in the rotation. Steve Smith will start in Baker's place on Tuesday.

Baker has a 1.57 ERA in his last three starts for Triple-A Oklahoma City. Baker has been very up and down since being designated for assignment early last month. That said, if his recent performance continues, he could very well be a rotation option for the Dodgers at some point this summer.

Baker was designated for assignment Sunday. Baker made two starts for the Dodgers, but he posted a 5.73 ERA and allowed four home runs in 111 innings, so it appears he is not a long-term option in the team's rotation at this time. He could garner some interest on the waiver wire, so his next step will be uncertain until after his waiver period concludes.

Baker will soon be designated for assignment, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports. Baker gave up four runs over four innings in Saturday's start against Arizona, and the Dodgers then taxed their bullpen during Sunday's 13-inning affair. It's unclear how the Dodgers plan to replace Baker in the starting rotation, as they don't have a day off until May 18.

Baker will start Saturday against the Diamondbacks, Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports. Carlos Frias will get the nod Friday in place of Brandon McCarthy (elbow), with Baker to follow in the No. 5 starter role. Baker was excellent in his first three starts for Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, posting a 1.06 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and 16:1 K:BB, but he has a 4.24 ERA and 1.2 HR/9 in parts of 10 seasons at the major league level. He's merely a stop-gap for Los Angeles.

Baker will stay with the Dodgers through at least the weekend, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports. The Dodgers revealed Monday that Brandon McCarthy sustained a torn UCL that will keep him out for the remainder of the season, leaving a gaping hole in the rotation. While Baker doesn't profile as a viable long-term solution even as a fourth or fifth starter, he should at least get another turn either Friday or Saturday against the Diamondbacks while the Dodgers likely explore the trade market. Baker was impressive in his first start with the big club Sunday, holding the Padres to three runs on four hits and two walks over seven innings. His recent track record suggests that he shouldn't be counted on to deliver strong results on a consistent basis, but an outing against a Diamondbacks lineup that looks to be one of the National League's poorer units could make Baker an intriguing streaming option in deeper formats.

Baker tossed seven innings in his first start with the Dodgers on Sunday but was saddled with the loss. He gave up just three earned runs on four hits, but two of those left the park. Baker struck out six batters Sunday and allowed just six batters to reach base, but he was done in by the two long balls he gave up and received just one run of support from his offense. Baker pitched well enough to earn another start, but his status in the Dodgers' rotation will ultimately depend on the health of Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) and Brandon McCarthy (elbow).

Baker had his contract selected by the Dodgers on Sunday. This move isn't surprising as Baker is expected to receive a spot start for the Dodgers on Sunday. The club moved Brandon League to the 60-day DL to make room on the 40-man roster, but Baker's stay with the club could be short with Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) working towards a return to the rotation.

Baker likely will get a spot start for the Dodgers on Sunday against the Padres, the Orange County Register reports. Joe Wieland is slated to pitch in Baker's scheduled Triple-A start Saturday. The report is attributed to "team sources" and doesn't have a comment on the record from anyone in the organization, but the Triple-A shuffle lends credibility to the report. Baker was nearly perfect in his last Triple-A outing, and gets the nod in a friendly ballpark.

Baker came within one out of a seven-inning perfect game for Triple-A Oklahoma City before Addison Russell singled on an 0-2 pitch. The Dodgers will likely need a No.5 starter next on Saturday, April 25, so look for Baker to get that nod.
