Garcia was released by the Dodgers on Wednesday, Bill Shaikin of the LA Times reports. Garcia struggled mightily in four appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, posting a 7.36 ERA while surrendering eight hits and four walks in 7.1 innings. The 37-year-old will have to look elsewhere for a minor league contract, likely serving simply as organizational depth wherever he lands.

Garcia has signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports. After spending 2014 in the Chinese Professional Baseball League, Garcia will look to continue his career in the United States. He'll provide pitching depth in the Los Angeles organization but doesn't seem like a good bet to reach the majors again.

Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com reports that Freddy Garcia is close to signing with an undisclosed team in Asia. Garcia opted out of his minor league deal with the Braves after finding out he wasn't going to make the Opening Day roster. He was hoping to find a major league deal somewhere but had only been offered minor league deals to this point. Obviously he's apparently found a better opportunity overseas.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that free agent right-hander Freddy Garcia is hoping to land a major league contract. Garcia was surprisingly cut loose by the Braves toward the end of spring training and has received some minor league offers since, including from the Rangers, but he's holding out for something better. The 37-year-old right-hander had a 4.37 ERA and 46/17 K/BB ratio in 80 1/3 innings over 13 starts and four relief appearances in the majors last year.

Braves released RHP Freddy Garcia. Garcia was informed Monday that he would not be on Atlanta's Opening Day roster, so the veteran right-hander packed his things and exercised his opt-out clause. He posted a 4.76 ERA and 14/6 K/BB ratio in 17 innings this spring in the Grapefruit League. The 37-year-old is now back on the open market.

Freddy Garcia allowed just an unearned run over 5 2/3 innings in beating a Mets split-squad on Sunday. Garcia allowed two hits, walked one and struck out four in his first strong showing since the early portion of the spring. He'll be a part of the Braves' April rotation, but his status could be revisited once Mike Minor returns.

Freddy Garcia surrendered four runs -- three earned -- in four innings Thursday in a loss to the Cardinals. Garcia still seems like a lock for Atlanta's rotation with Mike Minor, Brandon Beachy and Ervin Santana all iffy for the first week or two of the season. However, he might not last much longer than that if Minor and Beachy prove healthy. He has a 6.94 ERA this spring.

Freddy Garcia flew to Miami on Saturday to be with his wife, who is in labor. Garcia was perhaps distracted during that day's game, allowing six runs on six hits and four walks over 2 2/3 innings against the Marlins. Once he received the hook, Garcia left the ballpark and began his journey to Miami. He'll be back soon.

Freddy Garcia was perfect again Monday, setting down all nine Mets he faced in three innings. Garcia struck out three. He's 15-for-15 retiring batters this spring as he attempts to overtake Alex Wood for a spot in Atlanta's rotation.

Freddy Garcia retired all six Tigers he faced in his start Wednesday. Garcia, who was re-signed to a non-guaranteed contract last month, has said he won't accept a minor league assignment from the Braves. He looks like the team's sixth starter right now, but it's possible Alex Wood will be shifted to the pen to open up a spot for him. An injury could factor in, too.
