Scott Barnes RP TOR 2 Days

Barnes has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Triple-A Buffalo, Sportsnet's Mike WIlner reports.

Barnes has been with four organizations since the end of last season, after posting a 3.69 ERA and 1.20 WHIP at the Triple-A level in 2014. He's a lefty reliever with good strikeout numbers, but he's already 27 years old, and his control remains shaky.

Barnes was claimed off waivers by the Blue Jays on Tuesday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Barnes was originally claimed by the Rangers off waivers on Dec. 8, but was designated for assignment just eight days later. The lefty reliever has struggled in the Cleveland farm system over the past two seasons, but will look to get back on track with his fourth different organization in less than two months.

The Rangers designated Barnes for assignment Tuesday.

Barnes has already been part of three organizations in the past month -- he was DFA's by Cleveland, traded to Baltimore then claimed off waivers by the Rangers -- and he'll soon be looking to join a fourth. The 27-year-old turned in a 3.69 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 25 appearances at Triple-A last season, lowering his career numbers at that level to 4.33 ERA and 1.31 WHIP.

Barnes was claimed off waivers by the Rangers on Monday.

The lefty reliever spent 2014 at Triple-A with the Orioles, posting a 3.69 ERA in 31.2 innings. His 35:16 K:BB ratio over that span suggests he might have the stuff to make it in a low-leverage role out of the Rangers' bullpen, but this is not a potential eighth or ninth inning arm.

Barnes was designated for assignment by the Indians on Sunday, who decided to look for a trade partner. He could have an outside shot of cracking the Orioles' roster in the bullpen with a strong spring training.

Barnes spent 2014 at Triple-A Colorado Springs, posting a 3.69 ERA and 1.21 WHIP while striking out 25 over 31.2 innings. It appears the Indians don't have much faith in him, removing him from the 40-man after acquiring Charles Brewer from the Diamondback.

Indians optioned LHPs Scott Barnes and Nick Hagadone to Triple-A Columbus; reassigned RHPs Travis Banwart, Tyler Cloyd, and J.C. Ramirez and LHP Mike Zagurski to minor league camp.

No surprises here. With Marc Rzepczynski and Josh Outman slated to serve as the club's southpaws in the bullpen, there was no room for Barnes and Hagadone.

Indians recalled LHP Scott Barnes from Triple-A Columbus; placed him on the 60-day disabled list with a left wrist sprain.

The move was made in order to clear room on the 40-man roster for the addition of Jason Kubel. Barnes is out for the season but will get a nice little bump in salary.
