Josh Tomlin (Tommy John surgery) could return near the end of the season.

Tomlin went under the knife last August. At this point in his rehab, it's hard to predict if a 2013 return is in the cards. Tomlin has said he'd rather be 100 percent for 2014 rather than making a premature late-season return this year. The right-hander posted a 6.36 ERA in 16 starts and five relief appearances with the Indians last season.

Indians placed RHP Josh Tomlin on the 60-day disabled list with a right elbow injury.

The move was made in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for the arrival of Michael Bourn. Tomlin is recovering from Tommy John surgery and is expected to miss the entire 2013 campaign.

Tomlin said his recovery from August Tommy John surgery is going well, but he's focused on getting to 100 percent for 2014 rather than making a late-season return this year. The right-hander posted a 6.36 ERA in 16 starts and five relief appearances with the Indians last season.

Indians transferred RHP Josh Tomlin from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

It's a move made in order to free up a 40-man roster spot for the return of Lonnie Chisenhall. Tomlin is out for this season and most (if not all) of next following Tommy John surgery.

Josh Tomlin will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery.

It concludes what has been a miserable season for the right-hander, as Tomlin put up a 6.36 ERA over 101 1/3 innings before being placed on the disabled list earlier this month. Tomlin will likely be sidelined for most of the 2013 season, as well.

Josh Tomlin (elbow) will meet with Dr. Lewis Yocum in LA on Tuesday to get a second opinion on his injured right elbow.

Tomlin was brutal before being placed on the DL on Tuesday, posting a 5-8 record and 6.36 ERA over 101 1/3 innings, and perhaps the elbow soreness contributed to the poor performance. In all likelihood, he'll be shut down for the remainder of the season, but isn't a reliable fantasy option anyways.
