Rzepczynski agreed to a one-year, $2.4 million deal with the Indians on Thursday, Jordan Bastian of reports.

Rzepczynski had a great 2014 season for the Indians, finishing the campaign with a 2.74 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with 46 strikeouts in 46 innings. He figures to work in a late-inning role for the club in 2015 if he can continue with his success.

Rzepczynski was the Indians' primary southpaw out of the bullpen in 2014, limiting lefties to a .180 batting average in 73 appearances and figures to fill a similar role in 2015.

It was Rzepczynski's first season of arbitration eligibility. The left-hander pitched well for the Tribe last season after arriving via trade, posting a 0.89 ERA over 27 appearances.

Indians acquired LHP Marc Rzepczynski from the Cardinals for INF Juan Herrera.

Rzepczynski posted a 4.63 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 79 2/3 total innings for St. Louis after heading over from Toronto in the mid-2011 Colby Rasmus trade. The 27-year-old left-hander has been especially bad this summer and will look to turn things around with a change of scenery. Herrera is a raw 20-year-old infielder from the Dominican.

Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the Cardinals have traded Marc Rzepczynski to Cleveland.

St. Louis will get a low-level minor leaguer in return. "Scrabble" has posted a rough 7.84 ERA and 1.94 WHIP in 10 1/3 innings this year in the majors and seems doubtful to suddenly pull it together for the Tribe.

Rzepczynski has thrown 27 pitches over the past two days, so the Cardinals wanted some fresh reinforcements for their bullpen for Tuesday's doubleheader. The southpaw should get another crack in the Cardinals' bullpen soon.

Cardinals recalled LHP Marc Rzepczynski from Triple-A Memphis.

"Scrabble" earned his way back onto the Cardinals' major league roster by posting a 3.07 ERA in 44 innings at the Triple-A level. He will serve as a situational left-hander and mop-up man for first-place St. Louis.

Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak indicated Monday that Marc Rzepczynski's demotion wasn't just performance-based.

Mo said that he "wasn't really seeing that drive this year" from Rzepczynski. "I noticed it early in spring, and it sort of just carried over. . You're coming in with opportunities to do things, and it just wasn't getting done." The left-hander has posted a 4.77 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 54 2/3 innings since the start of the 2012 season. He'll try to get refocused and improve his results at Triple-A Memphis for a while.

Marc Rzepczynski (eye) will return to Grapefruit League action on Saturday.

Rzepczynski has been out of action for a week after being struck below the eye by some debris while on a golf course. He's pretty much back to normal, though, and should be fine to start the season.
