Alonso is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
With no designated hitter available in Washington, Alonso will sit for the second straight day while Jose Abreu serves as Chicago's first baseman. Alonso should return to the lineup Friday, when the White Sox resume American League action in Kansas City.

Alonso went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Friday's 6-1 win over the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso posted his second straight multi-hit game, the first time this season he's accomplished that feat, and he's raised his averaged to .187, the highest it's been since April 29. His high point this year was .222 just three games into the season. Alonso talked to Tom Musick of the Chicago Sun-Times about the challenge of being used primarily as a designated hitter. Friday's start at DH was Alonso's 36th in 2019 after starting only three games there during his first nine seasons in the majors. "It's just a totally new position," Alonso said. "I'm trying to learn early in the year how I can have a routine that works for me in the sense where I can stay in the game defensively, even though I'm not playing defense, and then taking each at-bat like I would if I was playing defense." It may have taken two months, but with four hits in seven at-bats, it could be that Alonso may have finally achieved a comfort level in an unfamiliar role.

Alonso went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer to go with another run, an RBI and a walk in Thursday's victory over the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso doubled on a line drive to right field in the second inning, then followed up with a two-run homer in the third to give the White Sox a 4-2 lead. It's been a disappointing campaign for the veteran first baseman so far. Overall, he's batting just .180/.288/.328 with seven home runs, 25 RBI and 21 runs scored.

Alonso batted cleanup against a right-hander and went 1-for-4 with a double in Sunday's 7-0 loss to the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso was dropped to seventh against a couple of right-handers earlier this week but was back to cleanup Sunday in an order thinned by injuries. Manager Rick Renteria talked about taking pressure off Alonso, who is batting .182 and has just three extra-base hits in the month of May. Alonso was defiant when talking to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times following Sunday's game. "What is it, May 26?" he said. "I got six home runs and [22] RBI. You can get hot in a month and have 16 homers and 50 RBI by the [All-Star] break, so who in the hell is saying I'm struggling, right?'' There are signs that Alonso may have a point. His exit velocity (88.7) and hard hit percentage (46.0) are up compared to last season, but the results are what they are.

Alonso went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Friday's 11-4 loss to the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
This was the second straight game that Alonso batted seventh against a right-handed starter. The left-handed-hitting Alonso has occupied a middle-of-the-order presence against righties but his meager production (.177/.286/.311) finally prompted manager Rick Renteria to drop him to the lower third of the order.

Alonso batted seventh and went 0-for-3 with a walk in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso was dropped to seventh in the order against the right-handed Corbin Martin, and manager Rick Renteria may have seen enough of him at cleanup. "Maybe we just alleviate a little bit of the load," Renteria told Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times. "Give him an opportunity to get at-bats, find his way back to who Alonso is." Prior to Thursday, Alonso had batted fourth against right-handers while only being dropped in the order against lefties. Thursday was the first time Alonso was moved down against a righty. With Daniel Palka heating up at Triple-A Charlotte, the White Sox could move on from Alonso if he doesn't find himself soon -- he's hitting .175/.286/.313 over 185 plate appearances. "As we're configured now it's tough to find ABs [for Palka], but that said, we'll see how the next few weeks and months unfold," White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said. "If there was an injury he'd be towards the top of the list for guys to fill in. We'll see what becomes of the roster in the coming weeks deciding how he gets used."

Alonso went 2-for-2 with two RBI as the White Sox defeated the Blue Jays 4-1 in a rain-shortened game Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso singled in the second and third innings to drive in a run each time, and has now driven in 20 this season. However, even with the good day the 32-year-old is just 11-for-61 in May with one homer. He now sports a .186/.289/.338 slash line this season.

Alonso went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 5-1 victory against the Blue Jays on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
This was Alonso's first homer since April 29 and first multi-hit game since April 16. That should indicate to owners that he isn't having the best start to May. He came into the afternoon hitting .122 (3-for-41) with three RBI this month. Alonso didn't have a great April either, and overall, he's batting .178 with six home runs, 18 RBI and 17 runs in 129 at-bats this season.

Alonso went 1-for-2 with a double in Thursday's rain-shortened 5-0 loss to the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso had one of only two hits the White Sox mustered against Cleveland's Carlos Carrasco. He continues to bat cleanup against right-handers despite what has been a power-sapped start to the season. His double Thursday was the first extra-base hit in nine games, and he's slugging just .241 against righties.
