Pirates optioned INF Yamaico Navarro to Triple-A Indianapolis. Navarro has struggled as a bench player this season, batting just .178 (8-for-45) with one homer and a .499 OPS in 25 games. Jordy Mercer has been called up to replace him on the active roster.

Yamaico Navarro ripped his first homer of the season, a two-run shot, in Monday's win over the Braves. He also singled and drove in a run with a fielder's choice. It's a nice showing for Navarro after he started the season just 1-for-13 at the dish. The utility player will continue to see sporadic playing time and is someone fantasy owners can ignore.

X-rays came back negative on Yamaico Navarro's left forearm. Navarro was diagnosed with a left forearm contusion after being hit by a pitch during Tuesday's game, but he should be fine. The 24-year-old is batting .341 (15-for-44) this spring and should be an active member of the Pirates' bench this season.

Yamaico Navarro went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI as the Pirates topped the Yankees 7-4 on Tuesday. The Royals incorrectly deduced that Navarro was the most expendable player on their 40-man roster back in December and sent him to the Pirates for a couple of non-prospects. He's looking like a good bet to win a job as a utilityman, and since he can play all over the infield and the outfield corners, he might have some fantasy value in NL-only leagues once injuries strike.

Pirates acquired INF Yamaico Navarro from the Royals in exchange for RHP Brooks Pounders and INF Diego Goris. Navarro has a good shot to make the Pirates' Opening Day roster as a utilityman and provides some insurance for Pedro Alvarez at third base. He's batted just .206/.250/.265 over 102 major league at-bats.

Royals recalled INF Yamaico Navarro from Triple-A Omaha. The Royals need some infield depth with Alcides Escobar dealing with an ankle injury. Navarro is more of a second and third baseman but can handle shortstop in a pinch.

Royals optioned INF Yamaico Navarro to Triple-A Omaha. He was cleared to make room for Johnny Giavotella on the active roster. Navarro, who was recently acquired from the Red Sox in the Mike Aviles deal, is batting .250 with one homer and three doubles over 44 at-bats in the big leagues this season. We'll likely see him again when the rosters expand in September.

The Royals are expected to demote Yamaico Navarro to Triple-A Omaha in order to clear a roster spot for Johnny Giavotella. The Royals want Navarro, who was acquired last week in the Mike Aviles deal, to play every day for Omaha. The former Red Sox farmhand has a shot to be a regular at second base or possibly third but most likely is ticketed for utility duty in the long run.

Royals acquired INF Yamaico Navarro from the Red Sox in the Mike Aviles deal. Navarro has frustrated the Red Sox with his inconsistency and hasn't put up great numbers in the minors, but he has some ability. The infielder is batting .258/.362/.469 with five homers in 34 Triple-A games this season and has picked up eight hits in 37 at-bats with the Sox. He has a chance to be a regular at second or third base and at the very least should be a quality utility player.

Red Sox recalled INF-OF Yamaico Navarro from Triple-A Pawtucket. He'll replace Mike Cameron on the active roster. Navarro, 23, was batting .258/.362/.469 with five home runs and 13 RBI over 149 plate appearances with the PawSox. His versatility could make him a useful bench player in the major leagues.
