Rosario will yield backstop duties to Mike McKenry for the fourth time in 11 games, and the team will likely continue get the 25-year-old Rosario frequent rest with nothing really left to play for this season.

Rosario will get a day to rest his legs after four straight starts, with Mike McKenry stepping in to catch starter Tyler Matzek in the finale against San Diego. Although Rosario has just two hits in his last 16 at-bats, he's still batting .314/.368/.457 for the month of August.

Rosario was just afforded a day of rest Wednesday, but he'll sit again Friday in favor of Mike McKenry. There hasn't been any word of an injury to Rosario, but the 25-year-old has gotten off to a 9-for-19 start to August, so something seems slightly amiss.

Rosario has come out of the gates hot to begin August, smacking seven hits in 15 at-bats, though just one of those hits has gone for extra bases.

Rosario went 3-for-4 with a run and two walks in Tuesday's loss to the Cubs. He ended up reaching base in five of his six plate appearances. Rosario now has a modest five game hitting streak and is batting .316 over his last 10 games. His batting average is over .250 for the first time since July 5.

Wilin Rosario went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in Sunday's loss to the Pirates. Rosario doubled and scored in the second inning, and he also scored in the fourth. It's been a largely down year for the 25-year-old, who is hitting .243/.281/.411 with nine home runs and 31 runs scored. He has doubled in two of the past three games, maybe a sign that he's ready to start hitting for more power in the coming days.
