Torii Hunter went 0-for-3 with an RBI ground out as the Tigers defeated the Athletics 3-0 on Tuesday. With an 0-for-4 on Monday, Hunter's OPS fell below .700 for the first time since very early in the season. The 38-year-old veteran has struggled at the plate lately in the midst of nursing a hamstring injury. With J.D. Torii Hunter (hamstring) is back in the Tigers' starting lineup Wednesday versus the Rangers. Hunter missed over a week because of discomfort in his right hamstring. He has a weak .266 batting average and .290 on-base percentage in 60 games this season, and the veteran could continue to lose playing time to J.D. Martinez even though he's back to full health.

Torii Hunter (hamstring) doesn't expect to return to action before this weekend. Hunter first injured his right hamstring over the weekend and then aggravated it on Monday. The Tigers are listing him as day-to-day. "It just knotted up really bad," Hunter said. "We're just kind of icing it, treating it, trying to get the blood flowing in it."
