Diamond finished up the 2016 International League season with a 9-15 record, 4.50 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 28 starts for Triple-A Buffalo.

EDGE Analysis

Diamond, who started 58 games for the Twins from 2011-2013, made just one major league appearance this season for the Jays -- his first MLB appearance since 2013. There were whispers that the 30-year-old could contribute at some point during the year to the big league squad, but that wound up to be far from the truth. The fact that the team didn't even add Diamond to the 40-man roster says something about where the southpaw stands with the organization, especially considering the Jays have the room available and a ton of games against left-handed hitters down the stretch.

Diamond is 6-10 with a 3.56 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 65 strikeout over 20 starts (124 innings) for Triple-A Buffalo this season.

EDGE Analysis

Diamond was signed to a minor league contract last winter with the thought that he could add left-handed depth out of the bullpen. He had his contract selected by the team and made one appearance in mid-June before getting sent back to the minors. Despite his record, the veteran has performed admirably for Buffalo this season. However, at this stage of the season it is obvious Diamond will not contribute at the major league level in 2016.

Diamond was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.

EDGE Analysis

Diamond had just joined the major league roster Monday, but he struggled in his lone appearance with the big league club to the tune of two walks and three runs over just one inning, so he'll head back to the minors. A corresponding roster move isn't expected to be announced until Wednesday, but Diamond figures to be a candidate to get promoted again later in the season should Toronto find themselves in need of pitching depth.

Diamond made his debut for the Jays on Monday against the Phillies. He pitched one inning, allowing three runs, two hits and two walks.

EDGE Analysis

The left-hander returned to the show after spending all of 2014 and 2015 in the minors. He's made 59 career appearances in the majors, and Monday was his first in relief. From 2011-2013, the 29-year-old went 19-27 with a 4.43 ERA in 58 starts for Minnesota. Diamond is not expected to pick up starts for the Jays, but should make plenty of appearances as the team's left-handed specialist out of the pen.

Diamond had his contract selected by the Blue Jays on Monday.

EDGE Analysis

Diamond has been solid in Triple-A Buffalo this season, posting a 3.16 ERA and 1.16 WHIP through 12 starts, although his 4.50 K/9 is rather low and could get him into some trouble in the big leagues. He will likely take Pat Venditte's spot in the bullpen, as he was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Diamond signed a minor league contract with the Rays on Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Diamond spent all of 2014 in Triple-A, but didn't have promising results. He finished his stints with over a 6.50 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in each. He'll likely serve a depth role with the Rays in 2015.
