Detwiler was informed by the Indians on Sunday that he's made the team's Opening Day roster, MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports.
EDGE Analysis
Detwiler will give the Tribe another lefty option out of their bullpen, but he's unlikely to see much usage in high-leverage situations. The 30-year-old appeared in 41 games and made a total of seven starts with the Rangers and Braves last season, accruing a 7.25 ERA and 2.02 WHIP over 58.1 innings.

Detwiler signed a minor league deal with the Indians on Tuesday, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Detwiler spent the 2015 season with the Rangers and Braves, posting a 7.25 ERA with 41 strikeouts and 36 walks across 58.1 innings of work. He'll have his work cut out for him trying to make an Indians bullpen that is already crowded with off-season veteran additions.

Detwiler exited Thursday's game against the Mets in the seventh inning due to a left hamstring strain.
EDGE Analysis
Detwiler's injury occurred after he had already recorded two outs in the inning, but he was unable to finish the frame. It's unclear how severe the strain was, but with the expanded rosters, the team has no reason to make any moves, so even if it is serious, he'll likely just sit for a while.

Detwiler was placed on unconditional release waivers Wednesday after refusing an outright assignment, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. One way or another, Detwiler will no longer be part of the Rangers organization after refusing an outright assignment to the minors. He's posted a decent track record dating back to his years with the Nationals, but struggled mightily with the Rangers this season. Over 17 games (seven starts) and 43 innings, the 29-year-old posted a 7.12 ERA and 1.91 WHIP with just a 28:20 K:BB ratio.

Detwiler was designated for assignment Saturday, John Blake of the Rangers' official site reports. Detwiler was awful in the starting rotation earlier this season, and he hasn't been any better in the bullpen since returning from a shoulder injury. He'll be replaced on the 25-man roster by Roman Mendez, who figures to see most of his work as a middle and long reliever.

Detwiler (shoulder) was removed from the 15-day disabled list Thursday, Rangers VP of Comm. John Blake reports. Detwiler will join the Texas bullpen, but he may get another shot in the rotation down the road, despite posting a 0-5 record, 6.95 ERA and 22:15 K:BB ratio through seven starts before hitting the disabled list. However, with Matt Harrison (back) seemingly on track for a June return, Detwiler may need an injury or two in front of him to get that opportunity.

Detwiler (shoulder) pitched two innings in a rehab appearance Saturday night at Double-A Frisco, allowing one hit while striking out three, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Detwiler is slated to return as a member of the Rangers' bullpen moving forward, and pitched well in that role Saturday. It's unclear whether make another rehab outing in the minors or not, but he's likely close to rejoining the Rangers.

Detwiler (shoulder) will be used as a reliever when he comes off the DL, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Alex "Chi Chi" Gonzalez has been tabbed as Saturday's starter with Detwiler now slated to take on a relief role upon activation. It doesn't come as much of a surprise, as Detwiler struggled to a 6.95 ERA, 1.87 WHIP and .336 BAA in seven starts to begin the season.

Detwiler (shoulder) threw a side session this week and is expected to come off the DL this weekend, MLB Network Radio reports. Detwiler is apparently feeling well and it sounds like it will be a short stay for him on the disabled list. He would presumably start Saturday's game, but if he cannot go, it will be Phil Klein who gets another turn in the rotation. Prior to Detwiler's bout with shoulder inflammation he had posted a 6.03 FIP in seven starts, so it would be best to take a wait-and-see approach if he does indeed get the start Saturday.

Detwiler was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with left shoulder inflammation, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports. Detwiler said he first felt soreness in his pitching arm during his most recent start Thursday, and after having team doctors take a look at him, the Rangers decided a DL move was the best course of action. Tanner Scheppers was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to fill out their 25-man roster, but the Rangers still need to identify a starter to assume Detwiler's rotation spot Wednesday in Boston. The top options would likely be Anthony Ranaudo or top prospect Alex Gonzalez.
