Strop pitched a perfect ninth inning with two strikeouts to record the save in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
After allowing two runs and taking the loss in his last appearance, this was a good bounceback effort for Strop. The righty now has a 5.17 ERA and nine saves this season, though his end-game opportunities could dwindle as soon as Craig Kimbrel is deemed ready to join the MLB roster.

Strop (1-3) took the loss after allowing a go-ahead, two-run home run in the ninth inning of Tuesday's 3-1 defeat to the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
It was a rough ninth inning for Strop, who started the frame by allowing a single to James McCann and then the big home run to Eloy Jimenez before departing with one out. The righty's ERA climbed to 5.52 after the subpar outing, and he'll likely get bumped down in the bullpen pecking order once Craig Kimbrel is ready to join the MLB roster.

Strop walked one and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to record his eighth save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander has now converted four straight save opportunities, and Strop will continue to hold down the fort as the Cubs' closer until Craig Kimbrel is ready to join the roster -- a move that seems a week or so away from happening.

Strop got the final out of the game Sunday to pick up the save in a 5-1 victory over the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Called upon to protect a four-run lead after Carl Edwards Jr. walked a pair of batters in the ninth inning, Strop needed only one pitch to retire Matt Carpenter on a groundout and pick up his seventh save. Though he has pitched well as the Cubs' closer this season, converting seven of nine save chances and allowing one run or less in 14 of 15 appearances, Strop figures to move to a setup role when Craig Kimbrel is added to the roster within the next three weeks.

Strop allowed a solo home run but struck out two and still nailed down a save in a 3-1 victory against the Cardinals on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Working with a three-run lead, Strop had a big enough cushion to allow a solo shot and still record his sixth save. He retired the other three batters he faced. However, the homer didn't help his ERA. Strop is 6-for-8 in save chances with a 4.97 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 13 strikeouts in 12.2 innings.

Strop (hamstring) fired a scoreless ninth inning to record the save in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Strop was activated from the injured list before the game, and any thought that the Cubs would ease him back into action with low-leverage work was tossed out the window when they trotted him out for the ninth inning. The 33-year-old righty recorded 13 saves and posted a 2.26 ERA for Chicago in 2018, and it looks like he'll be the team's top end-game option for now, with Brandon Morrow (elbow) potentially factoring into the mix at some point this season.

Strop (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Strop had been dealing with a strained left hamstring since early May. He recorded a poor 5.06 ERA in 10.2 innings prior to suffering the injury but should still be in line for a good number of save chances now that he's healthy, as he had four of the Cubs' six saves prior to hitting the injured list. Dillon Maples was sent to Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move.

Strop (hamstring) will make another rehab appearance Sunday for Triple-A Iowa, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Strop was originally expected to make just two rehab appearances but apparently requires a third outing despite pitching quite well in his first two. Regardless, he appears to be close to returning to Chicago and could do so sometime next week.

Strop (hamstring) pitched a clean inning for Triple-A Iowa Thursday, and he has now tossed two scoreless innings with a hit allowed and a strikeout across two rehab outings.
EDGE Analysis
Strop has been efficient in his two outings as well, needing just 13 pitches to get through the two innings. The Cubs originally planned for the righty reliever to make two rehab appearances, so his next time pitching could come at the MLB level. Strop last pitched for the Cubs on May 6.

Strop (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was unclear whether Strop would need a rehab assignment before returning to the Cubs. However, given his three-week absence, the team has opted for him to complete a few warmup outings. Assuming there are no setbacks in his recovery, the assignment figures to be relatively short.
