The Cleveland Indians agreed to trade infielder Nick Swisher to the Atlanta Braves on Friday, according to the team's official website. Outfielder Michael Bourn and cash considerations will head to Atlanta along with Swisher, who has been limited to just 101 at-bats this season, in exchange for infielder Chris Johnson.

Cleveland Indians outfielder Nick Swisher will begin a rehab assignment at Single-A Lake County on Monday while recovering from a knee injury, according to MLB.com. Swisher has been sidelined for over a month and will begin his assignment as a designated hitter.

Swisher (knee) went through another vigorous workout Friday and could head out on a rehab within the next 7-10 days, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Swisher could progress to batting practice shortly after the All-Star break in preparation for his upcoming rehab assignment.

Swisher (knee) worked out in right field prior to Wednesday's game and will do so again Friday but remains without a timetable for a possible return, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. "We want to get him back to where he's the best he can be," said manager Terry Francona. "I don't know if anyone knows what that is, including Swish." Swisher has been limited to just 30 games since August 20 of last year due to a pair of knee surgeries. He's certainly won't head out on a rehab assignment until after the All-Star break.

Swisher (knee) may begin a minor league rehab assignment after the All-Star break, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports. Swisher landed on the DL on June 14 due to an inflamed left knee, but this is the first indication of a potential timetable for a return. Once he begins the assignment, the Indians will have 30 days to decide upon a date of activation.

Swisher (knee) partook in some outfield drills prior to Friday's game but still remains without a time table for a return, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Swisher admits he came back too soon in his first attempt back on May 5 and appears to be making sure a repeat performance isn't in the cards this time around.

Swisher (knee) has resumed some baseball-related activities but still remains without a firm timetable for a return, MLB.com reports. "He's moving around pretty well," manager Terry Francona said. "Again, we'll see where this takes him this week. And there's always that fine line where you give a guy a little break and he came back and looks good, and as you start to increase the volume, does it get better? Does it even off? Does it get worse? But he's doing a good job right now." Swisher, who landed back on the DL on June 14, figures to need a rehab assignment before coming off the DL. Don't be surprised if the Indians hold him back until after the All-Star break given his abbreviated return earlier this season.

Swisher (knee) is feeling better after receiving a cortisone shot Monday but still doesn't have a time table for his return, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Expect the Indians to be extra cautious with Swisher this time around after he struggled in his first attempt to return from offseason knee surgery.

Manager Terry Francona said Swisher (knee) received an injection Monday, MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports. Swisher was placed on the disabled list Sunday with the malady, and the Indians likely aren't of mind to rush him back. He's sitting on a sub-.200 average over 101 at-bats this season, and was already losing out on regular starts to David Murphy before the injury set in. The injection should help address any inflammation Swisher might be experiencing, but it's unlikely to do much to rejuvenate the 34-year-old, who has contributed a -2.2 WAR over the last two seasons.

Swisher was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday with left knee inflammation, MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports. With the Indians calling up top prospect Francisco Lindor, Swisher will head to the DL in a corresponding move, in what may be more of a phantom injury than an actual knee injury. Even when ostensibly healthy this season, Swisher has been awful, delivering a .198/.261/.297 line across 111 plate appearances. Once he returns from the DL, Swisher may not have an everyday spot waiting for him, as David Murphy had already begun to cut into his duties as the Tribe's primary DH.
