Nick Hagadone (hand) has resumed throwing. Hagadone has been out since July 6 with a left hand injury that required surgery. He remains on the restricted list, as he suffered the injury when he punched something after being removed from the early July game. The lefty will likely participate in winter ball and the Indians hope he'll be 100 percent for spring training.

The MLB players association has filed a grievance against the Indians on behalf of Nick Hagadone. Hagadone underwent surgery earlier this month to repair a fracture left forearm which he suffered when he punched something after being removed from a game against the Rays on July 6. The Indians optioned him to Triple-A Columbus and then placed him on the minor league disqualified list. The 26-year-old will not be paid while he's on the list, which is the reason for the current dispute.

Nick Hagadone underwent surgery Tuesday to repair his fractured left forearm and is out 8-10 weeks. Hagadone suffered the injury last Friday night while venting after a poor performance. The Indians have placed him on the disqualified list, though that move is being challenged by the MLB players association.

Michael Weiner, executive director of the players association, said a grievance could be filed after the Indians placed Nick Hagadone on the minor league disqualified list. The Indians placed Hagadone on the restricted list after he suffered a self-inflicted left hand injury following a poor performance last Friday night. The 26-year-old will not get paid or receive major league service time as long as he remains on the disqualified list. Weiner said he did not know all the facts, but that union personnel were investigating the matter.

Indians optioned LHP Nick Hagadone to Triple-A Columbus. The Indians will go with a 24-man roster Saturday before announcing a corresponding move. Hagadone's demotion isn't a surprise given his recent struggles, but it leaves Tony Sipp as the only left-handed bullpen option with Rafael Perez (lat) sidelined.

Nick Hagadone pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his first career save Monday in the first game of the doubleheader against the White Sox. Jairo Asencio was going for a three-inning save in an 8-4 game until giving up two runs in the ninth. Rather than turn to Chris Perez or Vinnie Pestano then, the Indians went to their young left-hander, and it worked out fine. Hagadone walked Alejandro De Aza with two outs, but he retired three of the four hitters he faced. He's allowed just one run in 8 1/3 innings during his two stints with the Indians this season.

Indians manager Manny Acta said Thursday that Nick Hagadone will be optioned back to Triple-A Columbus when Asdrubal Cabrera returns from the bereavement list next week. Hagadone hasn't allowed a run in two appearances since being called up from the minors this week, striking out four and walking one over 2 1/3 innings. Assuming the Indians follow through with their plan of sending him back down, we figure it won't be long before he makes his way back to the big leagues.
