Kawasaki re-signed with the Cubs on Tuesday, Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kawasaki was among three Cubs released earlier on Tuesday, but all three eventually signed minor league deals with the club later in the day. The 34-year-old likely won't make much of an impact on the major league level this year, but will provide organizational depth up the middle of the infield.

Kawasaki was released by the Cubs on Tuesday, CSN Chicago's Patrick Mooney reports.
EDGE Analysis
Even with Javier Baez (thumb) potentially unavailable, the 34-year-old Kawasaki wasn't expected to make the Opening Day roster. He could still re-sign with Chicago before the season to help with organizational infield depth.

Kawasaki could make the Cubs out of camp if Javier Baez (thumb) isn't ready, Carrie Muskat of the Cubs' official site reports. "He's very much a viable option," manager Joe Maddon said of Kawasaki.
EDGE Analysis
Baez has not played since Mar. 20, but he's not expected to need much more time off. Kawasaki's best hopes of making the team are if Baez or Tommy La Stella (calf) need a short stint on the DL.

Kawasaki is still the running for the final infield spot for the Cubs, the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's still probably a long shot for the popular second baseman. "More than likely it'd almost be an injury situation to dislodge [someone else]," manager Joe Maddon said. "I'm just being honest. I also know that if he was part of this group, I'd be really happy about it in a heartbeat, and everybody else would be, too." With Tommy La Stella hobbling with a sore calf, it's still possible that Kawasaki could head north with the team.

Kawasaki went 2-for-4 with a double against the Padres on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Kawasaki is slashing .389/.522/.500 this spring. He still has an outside shot at making the team as a backup middle infielder, though he's not on the 40-man roster and is more likely to spend the year with Triple-A Iowa.

The Cubs signed Kawasaki to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training, the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 34-year-old infielder will likely just provide organizational depth.

The Blue Jays recalled Kawasaki from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday, Brendan Kennedy of the Toronto Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kawasaki will give the Blue Jays some added infield depth, and -- although there isn't a fantasy category for this -- the fan favorite figures to provide a boost to the team off the field.

Kawasaki was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports. Kawasaki has 15 at-bats in 12 appearances this season, as he's often just used as a late-inning defensive replacement. He's known for his personality, defense and versatility, but he offers zero offensive upside, even at the Triple-A level.

Kawasaki is getting called up from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Sportsnet reports. With R.A. Dickey placed on the bereavement list, the Blue Jays temporarily have an extra spot on the 25-man roster. Kawasaki will help with infield depth but doesn't figure to get more than a start or two.

Kawasaki was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday, the Toronto Star's Brendan Kennedy reports. The Blue Jays are calling up Scott Copeland to make a spot start, so Kawasaki was sent down to clear a spot on the 25-man roster. Kawasaki could be recalled following Copeland's start, but he does not see enough playing time, nor does he have the requisite offensive ability to be useful in most formats.
