The Jays remain noncommittal regarding Saunders, a potential free agent, and whether they will make a qualifying offer to keep him in 2017, ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Saunders was hitting .298 when he won the final spot on the AL All-Star team. However, his average slumped to .253 by the end of the campaign. The price of a qualifying offer this year is $17.2 million, and realistically, the 29-year-old outfielder likely isn't worth that price. In a season-ending news conference Monday, general manager Ross Atkins said the Jays are still pondering what to do with Saunders, who hit a career-high 24 home runs this season. On the other hand, Atkins said the club fully intends to extend qualifying offers to teammates Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion.

Saunders is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Barry Davis of SportsNet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Saunders has posted an underwhelming .196/.278/.357 line over the last 30 games, during which he's struck out 25 times across 70 at-bats. He'll give way to Melvin Upton on Sunday when the Blue Jays face David Price.

Saunders is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Red Sox, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Saunders continues to slump down the stretch, as a 1-for-8 showing over the last three games dropped his average on the month down to just .154, and so even with the right-handed Rick Porcello set to oppose Toronto, Saunders will take a seat Friday. Jose Bautista will get the start in right field, with Edwin Encarnacion serving as the DH.

Saunders went 1-for-3 with a strikeout in Sunday's victory over the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
After jumping out to a record pace in the first half, the outfielder's production has fallen off the table since the All-Star break. He's hitting just .181/.284/.374 since the Mid-Summer Classic, versus .298/.372/.551 before the break. September has been Saunders' worst month of the season, hitting a measly .151 with 19 strikeouts in 53 at-bats.

Saunders is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Rays, Brendan Kennedy of the Toronto Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
With lefty Drew Smyly on the mound for the Rays, Saunders will take a seat as the Jays go with a starting outfield of Melvin Upton, Kevin Pillar and Ezequiel Carrera. Saunders is actually hitting better against lefties (.282) than righties (.259) on the season but has found slightly more success against right-handers over the course of his major league career.

Saunders is out of the lineup Saturday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
The Blue Jays will opt for an extra right-handed bat in the lineup Saturday against lefty Eduardo Rodriguez. Switch-hitting Justin Smoak will start at first base, pushing Edwin Encarnacion to DH and and Jose Bautista to right field.

Saunders is out of the lineup Saturday against the Rays, Sportsnet's Barry Davis reports.
EDGE Analysis
With lefty Blake Snell on the mound for the Rays, the Blue Jays won't deploy a single left-handed hitter Saturday. This means Saunders will take a seat with Jose Bautista starting in right field and Russell Martin getting the start at DH.

Saunders went 1-for-2 with a home run, two walks and two runs scored in a 5-3 win over the Orioles on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Although Saunders is hitting just .219/.322/.486 in his last 30 games, he's been white hot in his last seven, slashing .348/.423/.870. A tremendous first half saw Saunders to his first career All-Star Game, but he's come back to earth somewhat since the break, now hitting .270 with 23 homers, 54 RBI and 67 runs scored on the season.

Saunders went 2-for-3 with a double, a two-run homer and two runs scored Tuesday in Baltimore.
EDGE Analysis
Monday's day off clearly did Saunders some good, as he came up with multiple extra-base hits in a game for the first time since Jul. 23. The right fielder is slashing a brutal .192/.263/.329 in August even after this effort, but hopefully he can build some momentum heading into September.

Saunders is not in the lineup Monday against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Saunders returned to the lineup Saturday after dealing with a minor hamstring issue, but he'll now head to the bench for the second consecutive game since then. In his place, Toronto will go with an outfield of Melvin Upton, Kevin Pillar, and Jose Bautista on Monday.
