Marlins signed RHP Micah Owings to a minor league contract. Owings, 31, is going back to pitching full-time this season after trying to be an outfielder/first baseman last year. He'll first report to extended spring training before eventually joining the Marlins' Triple-A affiliate in New Orleans.

According to Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish, Micah Owings, who transitioned to being a full-time outfielder and first baseman last season, has returned strictly to pitching. Owings dealt with injury issues during the 2013 season, but still managed to hit .252/.296/.444 with nine homers and 34 RBI in 82 minor league games, and tossing six scoreless innings on the mound. He's looking for a minor league deal with an invite to spring training.

Micah Owings (arm) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Monday. The Brewers are hoping that Owings will be a "reincarnation of Brooks Kieschnick", with the ability to serve as a position player and additional arm in the bullpen. If successful, he makes for a highly valuable player in the National League where bench depth and versatility are critical.

Brewers Vice President Gord Ash indicated Friday that Micah Owings will both pitch and play the outfield in the minor leagues. It's an interesting development as Owings had been rumored to have given up on pitching to pursue a career as a position player. If it works out though, he could be an extremely valuable bench player in the National League with the ability to play the outfield, first base and also serve as bullpen depth.

Brewers signed 1B/OF Micah Owings. Owings was granted his release by the Nationals earlier this month after batting .265/.305/.480 with eight home runs and a 71/10 K/BB ratio through 57 games with Triple-A Syracuse. Given the injuries they've had, Milwaukee isn't a bad landing spot for the converted pitcher. He'll report to the team's complex in Arizona first, but should move up to Triple-A before long.

Nationals released 1B/OF Micah Owings. The 30-year-old was granted his release after opting out of his contract. Owings, who made the full-time transition to position player earlier this year, was batting .265/.305/.480 with eight home runs and a 71/10 K/BB ratio through 57 games with Triple-A Syracuse. It shouldn't be long before he latches on elsewhere.

Nationals reassigned 1B/OF Micah Owings and INF/OF Carlos Rivero to minor league camp. Owings was plenty productive this spring, hitting .324 (12-for-37) with two homers, three doubles and 10 RBI in 19 games, but he's better off spending some time in the minors as he continues his transition to a position player. He could be an interesting bench bat for the Nationals down the road.

According to Bill Ladson of MLB.com, Micah Owings is unlikely to earn a bench spot on the Nationals' Opening Day roster. He's likely to start the season at Triple-A Syracuse. If he continues to produce there like he has in the spring, he'll certainly earn his way onto the roster before too long. Owings is hitting .393/.414/.714 with two homers and 10 RBI in just 28 at-bats this spring. He'd be a very intriguing fantasy option if he were to find his way into everyday at-bats.

Micah Owings will be sidelined for a second straight day Tuesday due to a quad injury. It doesn't sound like a big deal. Owings entered camp as a longshot to win a spot on the bench, but he's stated his case by batting .400/.423/.760 with two homers and 10 RBI.

Micah Owings hit a grand slam off John Ely on Thursday to propel the Nationals to a 6-3 win over the Astros. Owings has two homers, three doubles and a single in 19 at-bats for the Nationals. He'd be more intriguing as a bench option if he could still pitch once in a while, but even though that's not a possibility right now, he's still making a case.
