Kemp went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run Friday against Arizona.

He's now hit leadoff in three straight games, and he's collected three hits in the last two. The idea here is for Kemp to see more fastballs and more strikes so that he can find some rhythm at the plate. It's too soon to say that this move has truly lifted Kemp out of the slump that's occupied most of his season, but he's at least been better in June than he was in May.

Kemp will bat leadoff Wednesday against the Giants.

Not only is it Kemp's first time atop the order as a member of the Padres, it's his first time there in over five years -- the last time was June 20, 2010. It's a bit of a head-scratcher, as Kemp's struggles have continued throughout June (.228/.271/.392), but the 30-year-old is 12-for-35 (.343 average) in his career against Wednesday's starter Ryan Vogelsong.

Kemp went 2-for-4 with a solo homer Thursday in a win over the Athletics.

Those who bought low on Kemp in knowledge of his career-long struggles in May have finally started to be rewarded recently, as he's now homered twice in his last three games. We're still waiting for him to really catch fire, but Kemp has all the talent in the world and is actually healthy right now, so it wouldn't be terribly surprising if he were to go on a tear in the near future.

Kemp is out of the lineup Wednesday.

It looks like a routine day off for Kemp, who will hit the bench as Will Venable slots into the lineup in right field. He'll be flanked by Justin Upton in left and Melvin Upton, Jr. in center.

Kemp went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Reds.

The fourth-inning blast was Kemp's second homer of 2015 -- his first since Apr. 18 -- and his first extra-base hit of any kind since May 26. The five RBI also matched his total from his previous 22 games combined. In addition to the lack of power, Kemp has been drawing far fewer walks this season, but owners can still hold out hope that last year's second-half narrative repeats itself this season.

Kemp went 1-for-5 with an RBI in Wednesday's win over the Angels.

After getting out to a hot start in April (.326/.357/.578, 16 RBI), Kemp has certainly cooled off in May, as he's hitting just .186 with 27 strikeouts in 97 at-bats for the month. Wednesday marked his second three-strikeout game in May, and he's now fanned six times over the last three contests.

Kemp's struggles continued Saturday, as he went 0-for-3 in a 2-0 loss to the Dodgers.

Any hope that a "reunion" with his old Dodgers mates would get him going has been dashed through the first two games of this series. Kemp has just been ice-cold lately, as he's 1-for-18 over the last five games and batting just .169 in May. The Padres' offense has struggled alongside him, scoring just 14 runs in the last eight games. Kemp is too talented to continue these struggles for too long, so it may be a good time to buy low on him.

Kemp is not in the lineup Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

Kemp has started each of the Padres' first 32 games this season in right field, so he was likely due for a day off. With a team off day scheduled for Monday, manager Bud Black will take this opportunity to get Kemp back-to-back days of rest. Kemp got off to a hot start, but it just 6-for-38 with one extra-base hit in May, suggesting a short break was needed.

Kemp was ejected Saturday..

Kemp had a called strike three on him to end the seventh inning. He did not like the call and got thrown out by Umpire Marty Foster. Kemp was batter 2-for-4 at that point with two runs.

Kemp went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBI in Monday's 14-3 win over the Rockies.

Kemp took advantage of Coors Field's spacious outfield to put together his best line of the season, but he's been able to thrive no matter what park he's played in while donning a Padres uniform. The 30-year-old has already collected seven multi-hit showings on the season to bring his average up to .368. His 13 RBI lead the team and rank third in the National League.
