Teixeira (neck) is in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Wallace Matthews of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Teixeira did not start either of the last two games, but he is feeling good enough to return to the lineup Wednesday night. Teixeira will man first base and hit cleanup against Royals starter Ian Kennedy.

Teixeira was unavailable Tuesday due to neck spasms, MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports.
EDGE Analysis
The injury limited Teixeira to just one pinch-hit at-bat the last two days. He is hoping to play Wednesday, however.

Teixeira is not in Monday's lineup against the Royals, Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Radio reports.
EDGE Analysis
Teixeira had started five straight games, going 7-for-22 with a home run and five RBI over that span, but his average on the season still sits dangerously close to the Mendoza Line at .204. He'll get the day off Monday in favor of rookie Tyler Austin, who is drawing the start at first base and batting ninth.

Teixeira will start at first base and bat in the cleanup spot Sunday against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
It appeared Teixeira would only be a part-time player following his announcement earlier in August that he would retire after the season, but the struggles of youngster Tyler Austin have opened up more at-bats of late for the veteran first baseman. With Austin off to a 4-for-29 start to his big-league career, Teixeira will enter the lineup for the fifth game in a row, and deservedly so. He's gone 6-for-18 with two doubles, a homer and five RBI in the preceding four contests, showing he still has some power left in the tank as he winds down in his time in the big leagues. For those in need of a boost in the home run or RBI categories, Teixeira might be worth a look if he's still sitting on the waiver wire.

Teixeira went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBI overall in Friday's 14-4 victory over the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran slugger has endured a forgettable season, but Friday was a highlight. Teixeira erased an early 1-0 lead with a mammoth 430-foot blast to right center in the first that plated Gary Sanchez, and brought him home again in the second with a run-scoring single. The production brought the veteran's average over the Mendoza Line for the first time since Aug. 12 and extended his modest hitting streak to three games.

Teixeira is not in the lineup Friday against the Angels, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Teixeira has had an incredibly disappointing season, and his performance in recent games hasn't been an exception. Over his last seven games, Teixeira has gone 2-for-13, bringing his batting average down to just .196 for the season. Tyler Austin will start at first base and bat eighth over Teixeira.

Teixeira is out of the lineup Sunday against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
For the second straight day, Teixeira will give way at first base to the newly-promoted Tyler Austin, who homered Saturday in his MLB debut. Like Alex Rodriguez before him, Teixeira looks to be the next underperforming veteran in line for a significantly reduction in at-bats as the Yankees transition to a youth movement. Look for Austin to dominate the playing time at first base so long as he hits reasonably well enough.

EDGE Analysis
Teixeira will get a regular day off after starting the past five games. In his place, Austin Romine will man first base, batting eighth.

Teixeira (shin) is not in the lineup for the second straight game on Friday, Chad Jennings of LoHud.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Teixeira, who announced that he will retire Friday morning, will sit as his shin remains sore after being hit by a pitch on Wednesday. Teixeira remains day-to-day but should rejoin the Yankees starting lineup in the coming days.

Teixeira (shin) is going to retire at the end of this season, ESPN's Buster Olney reports.
EDGE Analysis
His contract is up at the end of 2016, and he is comfortable calling it quits after a 14-year career. He eclipsed the 400 home run mark earlier this season and his career batting average currently sits at .269. Teixeira will be remembered as one of the premier power hitters of the mid-to-late 2000s. He is currently day-to-day after getting hit by a pitch on the shin. Greg Bird figures to be the Yankees' Opening Day first baseman in 2017.
