Lohse's contract was purchased from Triple-A Round Rock and he will start Saturday's game against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Nick Martinez, who was expected to start Saturday, was optioned to Double-A Frisco as a corresponding move. Lohse hasn't pitched particularly well at Round Rock, posting a 5.06 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 58.2 innings (10 starts). It's a testament to how desperate the Rangers are for healthy starting pitchers that they have summoned Lohse. He should be avoided in most formats, as his K-rate will be well below average and he should struggle to prevent runs.

Lose made his first start at Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Lohse is expected to provide a veteran swing-man option with Texas once he gets some innings under his belt in the minors, but he'll have to bide time waiting for injury before getting any sort of look in the rotation.

Lohse will report to Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday and will be activated shortly thereafter, Rangers VP of Communications John Blake reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lohse was inked to a minor league deal Friday after throwing in a showcase earlier in May. He's set to join the Rangers' Triple-A affiliate Sunday and will likely be inserted into the rotation during the week.

Lohse agreed to a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Friday, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lohse threw for teams last week in California, and ultimately ended up joining the Rangers after spending the last three seasons with the Brewers. On a minor-league contract Lohse will not immediately join the big club, but he figures to be an option for the Rangers once he has a few minor-league games under his belt.

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Kyle Lohse has been permanently moved to the bullpen, according to MLB.com. Lohse owns the second-worst ERA -- 6.31 -- among qualified starters this season, and as a result, he has lost his rotation slot to rookie Tyler Cravy. A 15-year veteran, the 36-year-old Lohse may be approaching the end of a career in which he has compiled a 147-141 record, 4.33 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 440 games (416 starts) with the Minnesota Twins, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals and Brewers. He has given up more hits (152) and earned runs (87) than any pitcher in baseball this season, and has not allowed fewer than four runs in any of his last seven outings. Lohse will most likely be used in low-leverage, long-relief work out of the Milwaukee bullpen for the duration of this season.

Lohse took the loss Monday, allowing four runs in five innings against the Braves. The veteran has been hit especially hard the last two games, allowing 20 hits over 11.1 innings. Lohse has had one of his worst seasons this year, posting a 6.29 ERA. His final first-half start comes this weekend against the Dodgers.

Lohse (5-9) picked up the win Wednesday in Philadelphia despite giving up four runs on nine hits and two walks in 6.1 innings. He struck out four. That's consecutive outings now in which Lohse has given up four runs, but ridden a wave of offense to a victory. Unfortunately, his quality outings have been few and far between, and the Brewers can't always be counted on for nine- and 10-run offensive outbursts. It's hard even to stream Lohse at this point, but he does draw a Freddie Freeman-less Atlanta offense next week.

Lohse allowed four runs on six hits and a walk while striking out two in a win over the Twins on Friday. Brian Dozier homered off Lohse to open the game, and the right-hander later served up a two-run shot to Trevor Plouffe, but the Brewers' offense powered Lohse to his first win since May 15. Lohse has now given up at least one home run in seven consecutive outings and 19 long balls this season (second-most in MLB). His 6.28 ERA is the worst among qualifiers.

Lohse turned in a quality start Saturday in Coors Field but still lost his ninth game of the season, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk over six innings, striking out five. The big blow was a two-run home run by Charlie Blackmon, the 17th blast Lohse has allowed in just 85.2 innings this season. Until he finds a way to keep more balls in the park, he'll have a hard time chipping away at his ghastly 6.30 ERA. His next start will come on Friday, at home to the Twins.

Lohse fell to 3-8 with a loss Monday against the Royals as he threw five innings and allowed five runs on five hits. Lohse had nothing once again on Monday, as he continues to trot out there and attempt to show he has any trade value whatsoever for the Brewers. Alas, Lohse was tattooed again on Monday and gave up his 16th home run of the season. That total leads the league, but at least Lohse is tied with three other pitchers for the dubious mark (James Shields; Jered Weaver; Kyle Kendrick). His ERA sits at 6.44.
