Nieuwenhuis (abdomen) received a pinch-hit at-bat in Sunday's regular season finale.
EDGE Analysis
A sports hernia limited Nieuwenhuis to just Sunday's at-bat over the season's final 14 games, but his participation in Sunday's contest indicates he may just need more time and rest, as opposed to surgery, to recover from his setback. Nieuwenhuis hit just .209 over 125 games with the Brewers in 2016, but he did finish with a respectable .709 OPS thanks to a .324 OBP and 32 extra-base hits, including a career-high 13 home runs.

Nieuwenhuis (abdomen) was diagnosed with a sports hernia and received a cortisone shot Wednesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This diagnosis certainly does not bode well for Nieuwenhuis' chances to return this season, although the outfielder is adamant that he hopes to get back on the field. He likely won't be able to play for the next few days due to the cortisone shot, but if that helps to manage the pain enough, he could find his way back in the lineup for the last few games. Things should become clearer in the coming days, though.

Nieuwenhuis (abdomen) had an MRI on Monday and the results looked good, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nieuwenhuis is scheduled to see a doctor again Tuesday to examine his injury, but this is a great sign for the outfielder. He reportedly is dying to get back into action prior to the season's end, so there's a good chance that he'll reenter the fold as soon as he can. That being said, with most minor league teams done with their seasons, it'll be a bit tougher to get game-ready over the next week or so, making a timetable for his return fairly cloudy.

Nieuwenhuis was forced to leave Friday's game with an abdominal strain, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Keon Broxton also injured earlier in Friday's game, the Brewers may have to scramble to find a center fielder for the rest of the season. It's unclear how long Nieuwenhuis will be out, but abdominal strains can linger, so there's no guarantee he'll be back on the field before season's end.

Nieuwenhuis is out of the lineup Sunday against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Nieuwenhuis has started six straight games for the Brewers, but he'll take a seat Sunday in favor of Domingo Santana in right field. Look for Nieuwenhuis to return to the lineup early in the week, as the Brewers will be back in Miller Park where he owns a .954 OPS.

Nieuwenhuis went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in a 3-1 win against the Cardinals on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
His blast in the third inning ended up being the beginning and end of the Brewers' offense for the evening, but it was enough. He's still hitting only .214, but extended run in the Milwaukee outfield has allowed Nieuwenhuis to collect new career highs in homers (13), RBI (44) and steals (eight). Still, the lefty-hitting outfielder's fantasy utility is mostly restricted to NL-only formats.

Nieuwenhuis is out of the lineup Friday against Seattle.
EDGE Analysis
Nieuwenhuis had a fantastic game Thursday when he went 2-for-5 with a double, home run, and three RBI. However, he'll have the night off as Milwaukee will go with an outfield of Jake Elmore, Keon Broxton, and Domingo Santana when they face Wade LeBlanc and the Mariners on Friday evening.

Nieuwenhuis went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer in Thursday's loss to the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Nieuwenhuis entered the day slashing just .126/.263/.200 with one home run in road games, versus .293/.385/.571 with nine homers at home. However, he was able to turn around a 94-mph fastball from the NL's reigning Cy Young winner, Jake Arrieta, in the fourth inning Thursday. Nieuwenhuis' blast was his 11th of the season and pushed his RBI total to 37, both of which are career highs for the 29-year-old outfielder. He's benefited this season from a 14 percent walk rate and solid power, but his .214 average suppresses his value in most formats.

Nieuwenhuis is out of the lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
He made a whopping three errors in the field Wednesday, so it's understandable that he is out of the lineup Thursday. Keon Broxton will get the start in center field and hit seventh against lefty Robbie Ray.

Nieuwenhuis is not in the starting lineup for the Brewers on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Nieuwenhuis has not been able to consistently hit for average this season (.210 in 219 at-bats), but continues to draw enough walks to warrant him playing time in the outfield for Milwaukee. Keon Broxton will start in center and Jake Elmore in right for the Brewers on Tuesday.
