Juan Carlos Oviedo will begin his rehab assignment Monday at High-A Jupiter. He will start and is scheduled to go one inning. Oviedo has been cleared to start pitching in minor league games and is eligible to return from his suspension on July 23. Monday will mark the first time he's taken the hill in 2012. Oviedo may not need long to reclaim Miami's closer job once he's activated. Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said Sunday that Oviedo could share the closer job with Health Bell when he returns.

Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen has indicated that Juan Carlos Oviedo could share the closer job with Health Bell when he returns. Guillen said previously that Bell would retain his role, but it sounds like he's changed his tune as the 34-year-old's struggles have continued. "I will [treat] that as a big trade we make for the [playoff] run," Guillen said. "He's going to help the bullpen. A day like today [when Bell is unavailable], he'll take Bell's spot. [Other times] we'll see how Bell's throwing and we'll flip-flop each for whatever reason. It's going to be a big lift. Hopefully, he'll throw the ball like he has in the past.'' Oviedo will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Jupiter Monday. He's expected to stay with them for two weeks before rejoining the big club on July 23rd.

Juan Carlos Oviedo will begin his rehab at the Marlins' spring training complex on Saturday. Oviedo will be eligible to return from his suspension on July 23 and will assume a setup role ahead of Heath Bell. Of course, with Bell's struggles, it's not out of the question that he could eventually garner some save chances. "He is throwing very well. He is very excited to get back,'' ‪Marlins‬ general manager Mike Hill said.

Marlins president Larry Beinfest said Tuesday that Juan Carlos Oviedo will pitch in a set-up role once he completes his eight-week suspension. Oviedo finally traveled to the United States on Monday, but he won't be eligible to rejoin the Marlins until July 23 as he serves his suspension for age and identity fraud. Heath Bell signed a three-year, $27 million contract with the Marlins over the offseason and will be given every opportunity to keep his closer job.

Major League Baseball has announced an eight-week suspension for Marlins reliever Juan Carlos Oviedo. Oviedo arrived in Miami on Monday after getting a pardon from the U.S. State Department and is expected to begin working out at the Marlins' spring training complex on Tuesday. He hasn't decided whether to appeal the suspension, levied upon him for committing years of age and identity fraud. As the situation stands, Oviedo will be eligible to return to the Marlins' bullpen on July 23.

Juan Carlos Oviedo has arrived in the United States. The reliever formerly known as Leo Nunez will begin working out at the Marlins' spring training complex in Jupiter, Florida on Tuesday. He still faces an eight-week suspension from Major League Baseball for falsifying his identity, but he received a pardon from the U.S. State Department and is now in the country on a legal work visa. So things are looking up for him, in general.

Juan Carlos Oviedo has not yet decided if he will appeal his current eight-week suspension for playing under a false identity. Oviedo received a pardon from the U.S. State Department earlier this week and will report to the Marlins' spring training complex Monday. If he begins serving his suspension immediately, he could rejoin the team sometime after the All-Star break.
