Collmenter (2-0) struck out eight and gave up two earned runs on four hits and three walks over five innings in a 7-3 victory over the Nationals on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran was making his first start at the major league level in more than 15 months and acquitted himself well against a potent Nationals lineup. Collmenter missed plenty of bats, generating 13 swinging strikes over his 94 pitches. The one hitter he couldn't solve was Trea Turner, who touched up the 30-year-old for a pair of solo homers in the first and fifth innings, respectively. Collmenter may be moved to the bullpen for the balance of the campaign, but Saturday's outing certainly provided reason for optimism should he get another turn in the rotation.

Collmenter will start Saturday against the Nationals, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Collmenter will step in Saturday for his first major league start in more than 15 months. Collmenter struggled out of the Arizona bullpen this year and was ultimately released, but he was sharp during a four-start run with the Cubs' Triple-A Iowa affiliate (2.25 ERA, 1.31 WHIP). He threw 91 pitches in his final start for Iowa back on Sept. 3.

Collmenter was called up by the Braves on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
According to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, there's a "good chance" Collmenter starts Saturday against Washington, just three days after being acquired from the Cubs. Collmenter was the Diamondbacks' Opening Day starter in 2015 but pitched exclusively out of the bullpen this season and struggled before ultimately being released (4.84 ERA, 1.43 WHIP).

The Cubs traded Collmenter to the Braves on Wednesday for cash considerations, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
Collmenter, the Diamondbacks' Opening Day starter in 2015, pitched exclusively out of the bullpen with Arizona this season before being released in early August. He then signed on with the Cubs, posting a 2.25 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in four starts for their Triple-A Iowa affiliate. The Braves' rotation has been hit hard by injuries recently and it's possible Collmenter could start a few games before the end of the season.

Collmenter was unconditionally released by the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old hurler struggled out of the bullpen for Arizona this season, posting a 4.84 ERA and 5.69 FIP over 22.1 innings. He is now free to sign elsewhere, but his days as a serviceable starter could be over.

Collmenter was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
A shoulder injury forced Collmenter to the DL to start the year, and he's struggled to a 4.84 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 15 appearance since his return, with all of the runs scored against him coming in a trio of four-run blowups. This move may very well spell the end of Collmenter's seven-year tenure in the Diamondbacks' organization, as the 30-year-old could appeal to other clubs while on waivers, and if he's not claimed, he could opt for free agency.

Collmenter has allowed four runs in 7.1 innings during July.
EDGE Analysis
Collmenter has given up runs in just three of his 15 appearances this season, but those three were blowups, allowing four runs in each. The inconsistency has led to a 4.84 ERA and sporadic use by manager Chip Hale.

Collmenter pitched two innings of scoreless ball in Tuesday's loss to the Astros, giving up a hit and two walks. He also hit a batter.
EDGE Analysis
After a rough season debut on Friday (0.1 innings, four hits, two walks and four earned runs), Collmenter has pitched four scoreless innings over his last two outings. Collmenter missed nearly two months due to a shoulder injury, but he figures to be a key long reliever for the Diamondbacks moving forward as he gets more comfortable on the mound.

Collmenter was reinstated from the disabled list Friday.
EDGE Analysis
After placing both Shelby Miller (finger) and Rubby De La Rosa (elbow) on the DL, the Diamondbacks were in dire need of pitching help. Although Collmenter is likely not ready to pitch in long relief yet (he only threw 20 pitches in his last rehab appearance), he could move into a more expanded role once he builds up more strength in his shoulder.

Collmenter (shoulder) will start for Triple-A Reno as part of his rehab assignment on Tuesday, and according to manager Chip Hale, could return to the majors by this weekend, Nick Piecoro of AZ Central Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Collmenter struggled at the start of his rehab assignment at High-A Visalia, where he threw for a 10.57 ERA in 7.2 innings pitched. Since then, he's been doing better at the Triple-A level, pitching 6.1 innings for one earned run, three strikeouts, and four walks.
