Jose Tabata (oblique) could be activated from the disabled list Wednesday. Tabata is hitting .179 (5-for-28) with one double and one stolen base in nine rehab games with Triple-A Indianapolis, but the important part is that he's feeling good. "There was no re-injury," said Pirates manager Clint Hurdle. "He was able to move forward, get at-bats, play the outfield, run the bases, bunt, attempt to steal. Those types of things." The 24-year-old outfielder has been on the disabled list since May 27 with a strained left oblique.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Jose Tabata (oblique) remains in a "holding pattern." Tabata has been shut down since being placed on the disabled list in late May. The Pirates were originally hoping he could return in 2-3 weeks, but he's still yet to resume baseball activities. It's not clear if Tabata is dealing with a setback, but there's no timetable for his return.

Jose Tabata (oblique) has resumed physical activities. Tabata was placed on the disabled list earlier this week with a strained oblique, but his rehab was delayed for a couple of days due to complications after root canal. He could return around mid-to-late June.

Jose Tabata had a huge day at the plate Saturday, as he went 4-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored. Tabata had a two-run homer in the top of the third inning and an RBI double in the fifth. He needed a triple for the cycle, but fell short in his last plate appearance by flying out to left-center field in the ninth. The 24-year-old outfielder is 7-for-11 over the first three games and has pulled his batting average up from .200 to .279. It's nice to see, but he shouldn't be a consideration in mixed leagues until he becomes a regular in Clint Hurdle's lineup again.

Jose Tabata (hamstring) lined out as a pinch-hitter in the Pirates' loss to the Mariners on Wednesday. Tabata hasn't started a game since May 1 because of hamstring tightness. The 24-year-old outfielder is batting just .200/.273/.300 in 22 games played this season.

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said Jose Tabata (hamstring) will likely be available off the bench Tuesday. Tabata hasn't played since May 1 due to a hamstring injury, but he ran well prior to Tuesday's game. He should be available to start later this week.
