Jack Wilson (calf) does not expect to not start the regular season on the disabled list and could begin playing in minor league spring training games next week. "We're insanely ahead of schedule," Wilson said. "Even though it's going fast, we still want to make sure I'm 100 percent." Wilson is projected to back up Tyler Pastornicky after batting .220/.238/.244 in 45 plate appearances down the stretch for the Braves. Drew Sutton and Josh Wilson will continue to share time in his absence.

Jack Wilson is expected to be sidelined until mid-April after straining his right calf this week. It must be a pretty significant strain if the Braves are already thinking Wilson will begin the year on the disabled list. The veteran infielder is slated to back up Tyler Pastornicky this season after batting .220/.238/.244 in 45 plate appearances down the stretch for the Braves. Drew Sutton and Josh Wilson will now have a better shot to make the Opening Day roster

Braves re-signed INF Jack Wilson to a one-year contract. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman says he'll receive $1 million in base salary and can net a possible $500,000 more in incentives. Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports that Wilson is likely to serve as Tyler Pastornicky's backup at shortstop, but the veteran can also handle second and third base. He batted just .220/.238/.244 in 45 plate appearances down the stretch but can still pick it in the field.

Andy Martino of the New York Daily News reports that the Mets are still in the market for a backup shortstop. The Mets signed Omar Quintanilla to a minor league contract on Tuesday, but they would like to have a more proven option to back up 22-year-old Ruben Tejada. The club has maintained interest in 34-year-old Jack Wilson throughout the winter and have also been linked to Ryan Theriot and Ronny Cedeno.

The Mets remain in dialogue with free-agent infielder Jack Wilson, according to Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com. Wilson's agent, Page Odle, has been saying since last month that the Mets have interest in his client. Wilson, 34, is considered a plus-defender, but is also a .266/.307/.368 career hitter and has struggled to stay healthy over the past few seasons. He would likely serve as a backup shortstop to Ruben Tejada in New York.

Jack Wilson's agent, Page Odle, confirmed to Mark Hale of the New York Post that the Mets have interest in his client. Jon Heyman of SI.com reported last week that the Mets were among the "half-dozen" teams who have shown interest in the veteran infielder. However, Odle said he expects the Mets to wait for a resolution on the Jose Reyes situation before making a serious offer. Wilson, who turns 34 in December, would likely serve as a backup shortstop to Ruben Tejada if Reyes leaves New York.

Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the Mets, Dodgers and Braves are among the "half-dozen teams" who have shown interest in free agent infielder Jack Wilson. Wilson, who turns 34 in December, is considered a plus-defender, but is also a .266/.307/.368 career hitter and has struggled to stay healthy over the past few seasons. There are a number of teams looking for a shortstop right now, but he is better suited as a backup and late-inning defensive replacement.

Braves acquired INF Jack Wilson from the Mariners in exchange for a player to be named later. The Braves were spurned by the Dodgers in their efforts to land Jamey Carroll, so they've turned to Wilson as a consolation prize. Wilson is hitting a pitiful .249/.283/.295 this season but can help out with the glove at multiple positions. He's currently on the DL while recovering from a heel injury.

Mariners placed INF Jack Wilson on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 18, with a bruised left heel. Wilson suffered the injury when he stepped awkwardly on the first base bag Wednesday. The 33-year-old infielder is batting .249/.283/.295 with a lowly .577 OPS over 187 plate appearances this season. Brendan Ryan has returned from the DL and will resume his starting shortstop duties.
