With manager Walt Weiss suggesting earlier this week that the Rockies would prefer to use a four-man bench this season, McKenry could be on the outside looking in for a spot on the club's 25-man roster, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports. After signing Nick Hundley to a two-year contract during the offseason, the Rockies will have three catchers with extensive MLB experience in their camp. Unlike Hundley and Rosario, however, McKenry has a less expensive contract attached to his name, and isn't the asset that Hundley is defensively or Rosario is offensively. There's a possibility that the Rockies could deal one of the three catchers by the end of camp -- Rosario's name has been floated around in trade rumors all winter -- which would eliminate the team's need to expose McKenry to waivers. In any event, considering the existing positional logjam, in addition to some expected regression from a .315 batting average that was propped up by a .381 BABiP, McKenry seems unlikely to deliver the same sort of value he supplied in two-catcher formats in 2014.
