Trumbo went 2-for-4 in his return to the lineup Saturday in a 4-1 loss to the Giants. Trumbo rested Friday as manager Chip Hale rotates his outfielders in and out of the lineup. Trumbo has hits in seven straight to get his batting line up to .300/.300/.500 in the early going, but has hit just one home run. He is hitting a few more balls on the ground so far - 48% of balls he puts in play compared to his career rate of 45% - at the expense of fly balls. These trends will likely correct themselves toward his career rates, but they bear some watching as they could reduce his home run totals if they continued over the season.
